Why do people praise REmake? it ruined the visuals of the original game, drained it all of its color and soul. How is this the best REmake ever?

The original manages to be far more unsettling and eerie than the remake despite being "colorful"
The horror comes from the liminality AND the bright visuals. Moody lighting, still air, empty spaces where it's as if life disappeared from a room the moment you enter it, and there's still the warmth left on the seats, food boiling on the stove, fireplace flickering. A master of the craft can make a seemingly lively, colorful and bright setting seem like the scariest thing in the world, something modern day retards can't figure out. Same color palette for every horror game, black, brown, dark red and grey, THAT'S your idea of "horror"? Pfft.

The mouldy, dark, dilapidated, cookie cutter horror house milieu is for actual philistines who know no better.

I'm probably one of the few that will agree with you, OP. The original games create a very unsettling atmosphere BECAUSE of the fact it's not just pitch black rooms. It's a unique feeling. A depressing, hopeless feeling. It's an entirely different type of fear I felt playing them as a kid in contrast to other horror games. I find it far more interesting to be scared in the light. The safe feeling of light is corrupted. There is nothing safe except the save room.

Anybody can turn the lights off in a level and call it horror. What Capcom did back then (due to limitations) was create an atmosphere unlike any other.

I appreciate both for what they're attempting to do. I also find it disingenuous to say the REmake's aesthetics are cheap and merely playing into dark=spooky. If you want to see that in action just look at REmake 2 where the entire game is actually near pitch black, the style is now boring realism and it's much worse than REmake's aesthetic or the original's.
Wondering how many people that prefer the original played it when they were young or played it first, I would've found it scarier in either context if that was the case.
