Didn't a new wizardry just come out?You don't get a lot of dungeon crawlers nowadays because the genre demands that the game must be hard and unforgiving, difficulty which turns most casuals off.
>>729211490

But that is how Silksong works. And damn near any game that staples "roguelite/roguelike" on it. They are still coming out all the time. It's probably more popular now than it has been in the past.
WHERE IS IT ATLUS YOU FUCKS
Because this was a cheap excuse to do 100 identical floors and call it a video game

there's plenty of dungeon crawlers, but I don't get the appeal of the specific kind described by OP it sounds like the kind of thing that you'd only make in a roguelike nowadays, for example Barony is kinda like that minus the possibility to visit the surface

>>729212832>>Underground fortress redux with advanced technologyi love this shit in particular
>>729212756I mean that'd depend on a lot of factors. Like presuming there's a reason for monsters to exist in the toward and for there to be a gradient between their "levels".Also if a level 99 monster were to break out a outpost at the top of the dungeon would be just as if not more important.

Breath of Fire V does this perfectly. The problem with going up instead of down is there is a visual representation of the end. When you're going down you have no idea how deep it could go, if you are close to your goal and whether you can get to it. BoFV gives you your depth at all times but also has a counter to game over working against you so you really don't know if you will make it.
