Why does this franchise struggle to be culturally relevant?
>>
Aloy is genuinely one of the most unappealing character designs I've ever seen, especially for a generic female lead hero story.

Imagine if they didn't make Shrek a comedy and fantasy spoof, and instead, seriously tried to sell a fat, green, bald, ugly ogre as some gallant knight and hero.

That's what HZD did.

Unappealing just because the devs didn't want to make a character for v incels(You) to jack off to?

Aloy is hot and I'd fuck her in the ass. Also, the 2nd game was dog shit. The first game was good though. Definitely didn't need a sequel and we definitely didn't need it to be a trilogy which it will be unfortunately.

>What if we had a redhead girl as our lead, but instead of making her hot or at least somewhat conventionally attractive, we made her a bit fat-faced and homely. And also we could give her a big, expensive-looking pompadour haircut that looks completely out of place in this post-apocalyptic tribal setting, yet somehow is also the least flattering haircut our protagonist could be wearing for her face shape. And what if we also made her a fucking lesbian with the hots for some literally who background character so there isn't even a compelling romance angle. And what if the enemies were a bunch of fucking robots. And what if the plot was generic Chosen One bullshit. And what if the game itself was just open world Ubisoft game garbage.

You know, if you types stopped thinking about what straight men do with their dicks for once, you'd may be able to actually create appealing character designs
>>
Design decisions aside, this series also had the misfortune of being released alongside much better games in the genre. Breath of the Wild came out four days after Zero Dawn. Elden Ring came out seven days after Forbidden West.

It was extremely culturally relevant. It's just that most of that relevance at this point is making incels seethe for years. Everyone else moved on.
>>
Aloy looks like she should be chubby with big naturals, but she's flat.
>>
>>729211821
It's really bland. I got the first game for free and gave it over 10 hours of my time because my friend likes it. Couldn't get into it.

Only in a feminist femcel game can you have only the worst parts of every type of woman incorporated into a single character.

I hate the word slop but just looking at it you can tell it's sloppity slop

>>729211821
Not only is it a female protagonist which I won't play in general. Its an ugly one too. Which doesn't help. But either way I dont play female protagonist games. I'm a man

The character model got a downgrade to look uglier than she was in the first game. Everyone sees through that woke bullshit and nobody likes that.
>>
>>729211821
It’s a meh game if you ignore the constant blunt messages of “women good, men bad”

Because its a generic ubislop action adventure game that effectively betrayes its audience. The first time you see the game you see mecha dinosaurs and you assume it will be this cool game that revolves around tech upgrading and the autistic technicalities of different robots and how to take them down. What you actually get is a bunch of tribal nonsense with a focus a protagonist with zero appeal (neither aesthetically nor personality wise). The problem isnt just that she is ugly, its that she is completely milquetoast.
This game would have died after the first entry if it wasnt for someone hard pushing for it, trying to make aloy a samus or a lara.

Killzone was more relevant, practically was one of the PS3 games on every marketing. this shit feels forced
>>
>franchise
I love Horizon Zero Dawn. I feel like it was a great game. And part of what made it a great game, was that it had a great conclusion. It was perfectly expansive yet self-contained. The idea of this game being tortured into a franchise fills me with resentment.
>>
>>729211821
>the game is just regurgitated ubisoft formula mixed with a sony narrative
Quite literally at the core designed to be as forgettable as possible.
>>
>>729211821
>culturally relevant?
It's impossible to be culturally relevant with these release schedules. The music chairs have stopped, if you didn't establish your series 15 years ago it's over.

1. Retarded setting
What the fuck were they thinking making you fight robots with regular spears and bows? I can suspend my disbelief but this is just absurd
>inb4 but you need to shoot weak points to deal damage
Not an argument. If they were made of some weak ass metal, robots would self-destruct by existing.
2. Wokeslop story with ludonarrative dissonance every moment
The game's intro has you, playing a little girl, save some ugly faggy guy while the better man that adopted you, who is an experienced hunter, hides from robots. When you first encounter the same robots later on, they are complete pushovers.
3. The game is typical snoy turd that hardly does anything new
It's just a cinematic experience™ build upon the Ubisoft open world formula (only even more dumbed down) with crafting, stealth, meaningless puzzles explained the moment you encounter them, and light RPG elements. All games published by snoy are almost the same, with olny differences being the setting and whether they have an open world or not.
4. Aloy is not a character
She has no defining traits aside from her looking like a potato and having the most progressive opinions on everything. Sony appears to understand that, so her statue in Italy is officially called "The Placeholder".
5. No memorable or relatable characters
Everyone looks like a caricature and has nothing interesting or relatable about them.

>Why does this franchise struggle to be culturally relevant?
because its the same as every other sony game, all they change is the aesthetic.
