In November, US tighten their export control and Japan also restricted the supply of material for dram production to China. Both of them are targeting CXMT, who is the 4th biggest dram manufacturers after Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. They supply around 8% of global dram production. So the 60% leftover after OpenAI's 40% shares would be further down to 52%. China is also going to be building up their AI infrastructure, especially now after H200 ban is lifted. They will be forced to buy from the 3 dram manufacturers once their domestic dram get knocked out, further straining existing supplyExpect worse
it was worth it
>>729213951China can't manufacture ddr5 in any significant amount. The current export restrictions are because chinks were recently caught stealing trade secrets (again) and this is an attempt to fuck them over for doing it.

>>729214157The restriction already happened in November, right after Samsung hike the price for their dram wafer by 60% in the same month. The trade secret case was only day ago.
Chink still can't produce the high-quality photoresist materials needed for wafer manufacturing; 50% of their needs are supplied from Japan, for high-end ones, it's 95%. There is no way around it other than giving up their DRAM production once Japan blocks the sales of it to China
