Moore's law failed like 5 years ago and it wouldn't make any difference if XBOX series X was the last console ever made because microchip technology has stagnated.
>>
I don't give a shit.
All good games run on 1080Ti and ryzen 5 3600X
If it doesn't then it's a shitty game.
>>
>>729214284
Nice cope
>>
video game tech stagnated because it was left behind in favor of the search to cut corners.
>>
>>729214196
>just do something physically impossible or start losing money

um... ok
>>
>>729214437
5 years ago they started having problems with quantum tunneling of micro particles in their chips and since then all they've been able to do is make more efficient architectures without actually making the chips smaller. The technology is stagnated by definition.
>>
photonic ASICs are finally coming online which is good news.
but it'll probably be a few decades before they trickle down into consumer level
>>
>>729215014
Oh great cool lets just throw more computing power at the problem. Even though computing power is the least of game design philosophies concerns. I can't wait for devs to justify 2 TB games because of photonic ASIC technology. Isn't industrial society just peak, bro?

>>729215076
bot post
>>
>>729214058
who cares

technological advances haven't done shit to make games better in over a decade at this point
>>
>>729215014
>photonic ASIC
You mean those fake propaganda cooked by chink to cope with not being able to make an actual good chip with no EUV?
>>
Why not simply make chips more biggerer?
>>
>>729215356
Ever seen raytracing first hand?
>>
>>729215216
non-response.
>>
>>729215539
graphics don't mean shit and are totally irrelevant to anyone outside of <80 iq niggers
>>
>>729215423
no, a real german company who are also invested in yurop-only manufacturing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tqOPS6x9l8
The monkey-paw of this though, is it's mostly funded by "AI" because it allows for better scaling with significantly less power demands.

>>729214058
Moores law died in 2009
>>
>>729215539
Am I the only motherfucker on this board that understand the psychology behind muh gwafiks and realizes it's a scam to get gullible retards to buy there game.

Let me spell it out for you: The gameplay loop has NOTHING to do with graphics and psychologically you won't be giving a shit about the graphics 5 minutes into the gameplay loop. So MUH GWAFIKS!!!! is for the first 5 fucking minutes of playtime. It's like a drug that lasts 5 minutes and then you gotta buy more to get high again.
>>
Same with all consumer computers really. If you buy a decent computer now, it'll still be relevant a decade later.
>>
>>729215685
>a non-dev learns "gameplay loop"
tragic
>>
>>729215595
>>729215685
Wrong
>>
Knife has stagnated for thousand of years. If you have a knife made in medieval times, provided it's well-preserved. It can still cut shit and not inferior to modern knife at its job
>>
>>729215938
So I guess we should just stop evolving altogether. Kek you're delusional
>>
>>729215920
>>729215838

Hey that's cool. Tell you what. I'll play a low-poly open world at 360 fps and infinite render distance on a 200$ PC while you fuckers jack off barely achieving 60fps with raytracing. Sound good? I mean as long as everybody is happy. It's just that I'm smart enough to realize that the human brain instinctively stops paying attention to visuals once focus is achieved in order to minimize excess brian processing. I learned this shit in 4th grade biology but no big fucking deal. I'll just keep arguing with know-nothing idiots online about shit that is 100% proven.
>>
>>729216194
Let me guess, you own multiple CRT's
>>
>>729215685
Wait until you find out that Nvidia pays Indians to call people poor online for having views like yours.
>>
>>729214058
Physical impossibility limitations aside, consumer software just doesn't need more power anyway. It's like with cars and engines. At some point we did not need to or want to go faster. So in the last however many decades, it's all been about efficiency. How much more can devs really push photorealism? Do we really need generational leaps in GPUs nowadays? Can anyone take advantage of that? Devs could and would still try to kill your CPU over the next decade by bloating computing demands.
>>
>>729216547
Just make 3D games low-poly for fucks sake and get on with making fun fucking soulful experiences.

There's a debate to be had as to whether games should even be made at all anymore. I mean there's certainly enough already made.
>>
>>729214360
I have 4070TI and ryzen 9 5900X you fag. Doesn't mean that games shouldn't run on 1080Ti
Name 1 good game that doesn't run well on 1080Ti
>>
>>729216731
You are the only one "debating" that
>>
>>729214058
2 points
Nvidia has managed to double raw ray tracing and ai capabilities every gen, CPU/GPUs will continue to push additional dedicated hardware to speed up certain tasks because they can't make the kinds of raw power breakthroughs that pushed them through in the past.
Graphics and hardware are plateauing at around the same time with 4k/60hz on modern games being doable at the mid range, technologically what needs to improve to push graphics forwards isn't assets, assets are already absurdly high being 200k plus tris per character with options to tessellate that mesh to give them a visually perfect silhouette, you can already render every individual hair strand on a character, and even fake fine detail like wayward fibers on cloth, what needs to improve is lighting which ray tracing solves, and every hardware generation the amount of time spent rendering ray traced effects per frame decreases.
We are just kind of lucky that they are meeting together at this point, but if you want an idea of how just raw hardware improvements are going, if Xbox were to launch a new Xbox with the same amount of CPU/GPGPU cores and at the same clocks it would still be around 2x the power and 4x better at ray tracing.
If Switch 3 were to launch on Nvidia's next GPU architecture and it's docked mode were a match for PS5 it would still be 16x faster at ray tracing, at least in raw power, mem bandwidth would be the big bottleneck here, but this could be offset with a large embedded cache.

>>729217727
and you are a mindless consumer worth less than the dirt in my frontyard.
>>
>>729218220
Why are you so fucking rude all the time?
>>
>>729218012
wow cool now give me a soulful experience that runs at a never-faultering 60fps.
>>
>>729218275
Have you played the Super Nintendo?
>>
>>729218260
the fuck is there is to be happy about in this industrial society?
>>
>>729214058
Cool story, bro. Make some consumer quantum chips now
>>
>>729214058
Doesn’t mean they can’t still improve and become cheaper
>>
>>729215685
People enjoy looking at them, seething autist retard
>>
>>729214058
So that means electronics will start to get bigger again just to pack more computing power until the next ground breaking strat for miniaturisation

damn, was hoping that in my time i would experience sci fi level tech before my eyes... i mean i kinda did with smartphones but i mean actual sci fi level stuff, shit you see in movies, ill be dead by the 2090s man
>>
>>729214058
moore law failed in the early 10's when they had to change the rule to includes cores
>>
>more souls law stagnanted

Because you didn't beat tea'd this mage game.
>>
Good thing the IC spyware keeps getting better and better
>>
>>729218220
Better to be dirt than be you
>>
>>729214058
>Moore's law
Only retards like you don't understand it was an OBSERVATION.
>>
>>729214058
>Moore's law failed like 5 years
bullshit
>>
Graphics don't need to progress anymore and didn't need to progress for a very long time
>>
>>729215685
Video is like half the video game

If I wanted gameplay loops I'd play boardgames with mom
