/vr/ says it's better than SOTN and it feels more like Castlevania
/vr/ is right
>>729214806>feels more like CastlevaniaIf you're using the original game as the baseline yes. It's a bad game though.
It's more like Tomb Raider than Castlevania
>>729214806I never played 64 but I did beat LoD and I think it's very underrated. I still remember that hedge maze with the chainsaw wielding Frankenstein monster chasing youhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naPg37qyU8Y
>>729214806/vr/ is smoking a lot of crack if they have that sentiment
Yes, it is an action platformer. It goes stage to stage until the mansion, then it goes back to the stage format. Probably the only actual true conversion of 2D to 3D Castlevania.
Castlevania has always been a style over substance series for graphics whores, which is why SOTN is the most popular one. The N64 games will always be treated as the misbegotten stepchildren of the franchise, because of how they look.
>>729216348>Castlevania has always been a style over substance series for graphics whoresNot really.
>>729216348Because they control like shit actually but carry on with your delusion
there are 3 complaints when it comes to CV64>motorcycle skeletons lol thats, like, so weirdno rebutle it is what it is>the camera is badthe camera uses the same style as Monster Hunter, tap to look ahead or if in battle tap jerks the camera to the mob, and the attacking is character based rather than camera it's perfectly fine, even good for n64 standards>there is no music on the first stage, cv has bangers this sucksstage one is called 'Forrest of silence' it's gonna be quite.. devs expected you to be there for like 7 minutes not the 50+ you're taking
>>729216715My biggest complaints are that combat feels like shit and that the level design is extremely dull most of the time; there's a ton of wasted space. It just isn't a gripping game. It has its moments but they don't sustain it.
Castlevania was made to be in 2d
>>729214806/vr/ is fucking lying. The sequel/1.5 version of the game with the dognigga is pretty good in it's own right though.
So guess being a contrarian became a thing on /vr/ as well. It was a failed attempt at following the muh 3d trend. SOTN was an actual evolution of the franchise and actually feels like castlevania, not some "ZOMG WE MUST BE A 3D ADVENTURE NOW!!!!1!!" crap.
>>729216540It's sort of true if you excuse the first three. I love CV4 and SOTN but they were way easier and way prettier.
