For better or worse, Bleach handled its large roster better than other series and I think it's a shining example of why you should avoid watching anime with large rosters of characters. Bleach actually took the time to dedicate FILLER episodes to every side-character. They're all fully fleshed out but it was all pointless. If you watched it, you know every Bleach character. Whereas, Boku No Hero Academia has a huge roster and you've long forgotten most of them because they only had a few moments of screentime and no entire episodes devoted to their backstory.TL;DR: Ultimately, it's all pointless. Anime shouldn't have rosters this big. They need to just focus on the core main characters. There's too many characters and so little time. They don't matter to the plot.
