no

fuck no, even by 2008 standards it was a decade behind in gameplay aspects and didnt make up for it with other stuff. i wasnt even a fallout fan and it felt off to me

read some of the DLCs are great but I made the mistake of starting zeta first and it was so bad i just quit

It holds a lot of nostalgia for me because it was one of the first western RPGs I was able to get my hands on.
My mind was completely blown by the time I got to megaton

carried by its atmosphere

This. you should see the concept art Adam Adamowicz made. You can tell he actually played 1 and 2.

Replayed it recently. Yes.
It's exonerated for how gay RPGs have been since 2012, and I mean that in both sense of the word.

They're just more Fallout 3.
I like Fallout 3 so I like them.

The Pitt is probably the most overrated.

Zeta was a war crime. Imagine starting your DLC journey with a slog through sterile corridors and bullet sponge aliens. Honest to god, it felt like a mod some 15-year-old cooked up on Nexus. Broken Steel was decent in a "we patched the ending Bethesda borked" kind of way, and Point Lookout at least tried something new. But yeah, Fallout 3’s gunplay and world design already felt stiff back in 2008, and with the bar where it is now, it's hanging on by the sepia-toned memory of Liam Neeson yelling about water.
