Crystal Project absolutely is if you enjoy exploration, team building, and strategic turn based combat.
It's a very "gameplay first" kinda game with virtually no story. You are essentially thrown into a huge world with shitloads of dungeons, secrets, bosses, and cool stuff to find everywhere.
On the higher difficulties it's a pretty hard game and many bosses will require you to change up your party and strategies significantly, but it's always very fair.

That was the game that made me dislike single town JRPGs that aren't dungeon crawlers. Just made me realise I don't like when there aren't new towns to discover. It just always goes back to that one town with random dungeons around it.
>Lost Odyssey
Was interesting to play a JRPG with a super low encounter rate. I think it kinda needed a way to just trigger a fight cause I remember running around for easily over a minute per fight trying to farm something. I can't judge it too much cause I took long breaks between playing it.

if you like older jrpgs for the gameplay you will love crystal project. it's the peak of 4 niggas in a row gameplay
it's 100 hours long if you play it blind and only has like 10 minutes of story throughout all of that
you explore a huge open world, find dungeons, kill bosses, get cool loot, unlock new classes to mix and match, sometimes find new movement upgrades that let you explore more of the world to get to even more cool shit
it's fucking enormous and the mechanics and options you have for team building go super deep, it's the kind of game that keeps surprising you over and over and over again because it just keeps going getting bigger and bigger and gives you more and more absolutely game changing stuff
i'd recommend starting on hard mode, it's difficult but rewarding a lot of the bosses are almost kinda puzzles with how you need to approach them and you will make party setups specifically to counter them which feels fucking amazing vs just steamrolling everything after grinding a bit. if it gets too much you can always turn the difficulty down, but you can't turn it back up again

Play the first Grandia. It has absolutely stellar adventuring vibes.
The main character starts out as a naive kid that dreams of adventure and sets out on a journey purely for adventure's sake with his childhood friend. There's nothing that forces his hand, no big drama, ancient evil, or burnt village or anything like that, he just wants to go explore. Of course it's a JRPG so things do eventually turn more serious but it never loses that adventuring spirit.

Any cheap easy grabs from the sale?

I got Romancing Saga 2 on sale for my Switch 2. The gameplay is smooth and feels good and I like the glimmer system. My only complaint is that it seems really easy so far even on the hardest difficulty (I just beat the boss in the mansion)

No.
I'm going to trust the opinion of the other posters in this thread.

Generally hard JRPGs are difficult at the start when you don't have many tools to use

Kusoge-tier gameplay that is passable at best with some very interesting aesthetics, plots and characters.
Worth it but only if you get it for a discount.
For instance, i actually like reynatis but i wouldn't pay full price for it, ever.

I enjoyed it for what it was: a shoe-string budget game. Solid foundation, but the lack of resources is apparent.

I wonder how these japanese events dedicated to FugaFinale went.

Eh, the patch IS a beta/demo after all.
So i guess we can't complain.
It is annoying, and yeah, it drives me amd because i too read fast, but you get used to it for the most part.

I thought the tutorial section of the map was kinda lame and I was already close to dropping it but once I got to the big hub city with the castle and the game started taking the training wheels off I got super addicted

Part of me irrationally resents it when a shitty game has elements that appeal to me. I wish there were more games with generational advancement, for example.

Growlanser 2 has the best opening of them all.
It has a really catchy song.

Currently playing ffxii, don't know what classes/sub classes to pick for my characters. Maybe I'll buy another jrpg (bravely default or one of the octopath games), but my switch 2 backlog is unicorn overlord, tales of vesperia, act 3 of dq11

>>729229140
I prefer 4

>>729226446
This one is cool. Every character has a move that has a percentage chance to instant kill each enemy, and the chance increases as you go through the game such that by the end you'll just use that move because it's like 50% or something

Also the way they resolve the entire witch persecution plot that's meant to be the point of the story is laughably half-assed

It's one of the more tolerable slop IF games overall
>>
>>729220941
I'm waiting for them to apply the patch onto psp version
>>
>>729229436
Doesn't the psp version have extra content?
I'm sure that need extra work beyond inserting the script into the game.
