>play RPG>pick any class other than Paladin/Cleric(Lawful Good)>I judge you, harshlyIn a pure power fantasy like an RPG game why the fuck are you choosing to be evil or self serving? The tools are laid before you to end all of the gameworld's suffering. The game gives you the tools and powerset to right all the wrongs, smite all evils and protect all the innocents. Why choose any other path? Why choose to let innocents suffer?
because fuck your mom
I am an evil person.
>>729221308>chaotic evil>>729221337>neutral evilYou both deserve to be smote.
why are clerics in most games just a weaker warrior with a couple laughable spells? worst of both worlds.
Most games’ “paladins” are just warriors with magic. Real paladins have to live by certain codes or they lose their powers. It’s a good class for a second or third playthrough, not good if you want to “roleplay” as your choices are effectively railroaded
>>729221279>Why choose any other path?punching and throwing people around is more fun
Paladin-larpers are the trench coat wearing katana-nerds of the past.
>>729221279>Why choose any other path? Why choose to let innocents suffer? The definition of innocent is subjective. Why do you like playing Paladin so much? Do you like pretending you're a good person?
>>729221408actually I'm true neutral your mother probably karmatically deserved it
>>729221279Sissydins are almost always worse than 100% pure str chad warriors, clerics are useless unless game has several party members
>>729221279>Why choose to let innocents suffer?Because God works in mysterious ways you fucking atheist
>>729221279because i like classes that let me punch dudes better than a regular dude
>>729221279In reality, I need to treat people fairly for the social contract to function, I need to demonstrate altruism towards friends and family in order to keep them, and I need to be loyal and moral in order to foster the same behaviour in my fellow man. In a make believe game, I can experience doing none of those things and it won't have any lasting consequences.
>>729221279>Dude paladins are so HECKIN' cool and BADASS>"s..sorry guys, can't do anything fun or interesting, deity/oath won't allow it">"sorry folx... already used up all my smites in one combat to barely outperform a fighter">"party face? are you nuts? i can't invest that much into charisma!"yeah great class dude>why the fuck are you choosing to be evil or self serving? because i'm not in real life and it's fun to pretend, that is the whole point of this entire fucking thing you understand
Good and evil are spooks. In games, exploring the essence of evil is important to understanding the depths of good possible. It’s also important that evil is not shallow, or the good is gay wish fulfillment.
>choose evil choices>useful NPCs die>quest chains end early because NPCs are mad with you or die>less exp due to shorter quest chains>usually no benefits other than finishing quests fasterIt sucks in RPGs anyways, but I guess most devs don't put as much effort into evil choices because most people try to be good in video games.
>>729221665>In reality, I need to treat people fairly for the social contract to function>social contractThere's no such thing. You follow the law because you're afraid of being thrown in jail, and no other reason. In a video game, you're just being your true self, considering you can probably kill any lawkeepers that attempt to punish you. Do you disagree?
>>729221858They did in BG3. For all its relationship sim gameplay, you can legit go evil and there will be content supporting it.
>>729221872>follow the law>social contractIt's legal to lie, but I don't lie. It's legal to cheat on your spouse, but I don't cheat on my spouse. It's legal to not reciprocate gift giving or favours, but I reciprocate gift giving and favours. A social contract is not solely whatever laws that society has formulated. A society with no legal system still has social contracts.>Do you disagree?I don't need to. You are objectively wrong.
>>729222186Am I objectively wrong? Objectively dodge the filter I just placed on the original image you posted, keeping in mind you posted in this thread because I have most of the board filtered at all times. I won't speak to an NPC Nigger.
Have a look at this screenshot to see whether I'm bluffing or not.

>>729221279When was the last time you went to church
>>729221872People don't just follow norms because it is the law and they are afraid to get punished for it.You can do a lot of antisocial things every day and be 100% certain you'd get it away with it, but you don't do it, even though you could get a advantage from doing those things, because you want to live in a society with certain norms.
>>729222401Are you one of those people who asks that question even though you've never been?
>>729222323there is no difference

Go nuts, filter anything you like, and be as angry as you want to be. It's all the same to me.
>>729222575Interesting. How do you feel about the people of 4chan? Do you have friends here?
>>729222405Honestly I just think it's more than people are deathly afraid of the consequences of getting caught even if your chance of getting caught is 1%. Most of the time it's really just not worth risking your entire life being thrown in the dumpster.
>>729222639Would be awesome if at least one person learned about Jesus and accepted Him thanks to paladin deus vult memes

I usually pick Paladin. It is an attractive idea to give myself wholly to an undeniably good cause and God, allied with other undeniably good people, whose proof of good is evident in them also having Paladin powers. I cannot do this in real life, so I often indulge in this fantasy in games.
>>729222835>I cannot do this in real lifeYou can't do what - be a good person?
>>729221279Warrior's life for me desu
>>729221279Why would I need to be a paladin to be good? Maybe I'll play a wizard, need no gods to be good, no one to hold my hand, no one to tell me what to do. But I will save the world and do good anyway. And it will be because I wanted to, not because a god commanded me to do it.
>>729221279I wanna be a wizardBut like a good Catholic wizardLike Gandalf
>>729221279cuck
>>729222985No game shows the absurdity of Paladin more than Baldur's Gate 3. Here's a situation that happens at the very start of the game>Lae'zel is in a cage, captured by two tieflings>if you fail a dialogue check, they attack you>if you kill them, you get a cutscene saying you've broken your Paladin oathWhat in the absolute fuck is that? God should understand why I took their heads off. You're not being punished by God when you play video games, and you're being punished by stupid humans.
>>729222873I cannot fully give myself over to a God and religion that is indisputably good and has only been invoked to do good things.
>>729223184serves you right for being a sissydin, a true VVARRIOR might respect gods but he does not need them
>>729221279Are you truly good if you don't have the choice to be evil?
>>729223184In BG3, a paladin does not swear allegiance to a god, they swear an oath and they are bound by the wording of the oath, not by any gods.
>>729223469>a paladin does not swear allegiance to a god, they swear an oathThat doesn't make sense. Who created the oath? Was it other humans? If that's the case, then it's not a Paladin at all and you're like a police officer.
>>729221279Paladins who are just holy warriors slayer of evils are gay. There is no difference between that and any other class who kills demons, except that you want to feel special without putting in any work. Your first instinct as a paladin should be to promote good, not destroy evil. Even a rogue or a wizard can destroy evil.
>>729221279I have a serious issue man.Even in the actual TTRPG I'm always so strongly drawn to just make a Cleric, Paladin, or some form of Spellsword.Even when I play something else I just end up swerving somehow.Right now, the longest running campaign I'm playing in (campaign is decades old, I've been playing since 2021), I'm playing a Cleric with a bunch of Prestige Classes that let him do shit cast a divine spell through his sword whenever he smacks a bitch with it.It was pretty sick when his deity saved his soul from some bizarre external entity that one time he died and got brought back to life.I tried playing PoE2 with my friends and got disappointed that for all the options the super large skill tree gives, you can't really make that kind of character just yet.>>729222835>It is an attractive idea to give myself wholly to an undeniably good cause and God, allied with other undeniably good people, whose proof of good is evident in them also having Paladin powers.Exactly. It's nice on a thematic sense, on a conceptual sense, and it's a nice RP crutch to lean on too.
>>729221279I like playing paladin as a fantasy version of Judge Dredd. That makes it fun.
>>729223567>Who created the oath?I don't know man. I'm just telling you what the game tells me, and what DND fans have told me. I agree that a Paladin should be a religious warrior, but in BG3, they simply aren't. There's four oaths you can swear, and none of them involve gods. I also think a vengeance oath should allow you to off the tieflings. They have imprisoned one of your companions and their only motive for doing so is that she's Githyanki. That ought to be a license to ROFLstomp them IMO.
>>729223469>>729223567What that means varies from setting to setting. In the Forgotten Realms for example, Paladins and Druids don't need to worship any specific deity, but they are granted their divine powers by deities whose domains align with their causes.
>>729223643red zone
>>729223749In fact, I think even Clerics don't need to follow a specific deity. They can worship a pantheon or devote themselves to some divine cause or whatever.
>>729223184It's the same bullshit as that fallout 3 tower quest.
>>729223630You promote good by destroying evil. This has been the core tenet of paladin from its inception as a class.
>>729223749>In the Forgotten RealmsNot anymore, it seems. They have eschewed the deity element entirely. Your powers now come from your dedication to your oath.
>>729223841>You promote good by destroying evil. Then every class is a paladin retard, you still don't get it. Or are you just a hunter larper who has demons as favored enemies?
>>729223718>I also think a vengeance oath should allow you to off the tieflings.I just choose not to play Paladin anymore and I'll follow an oath that makes far more sense to me: Destroying everyone I consider evil. If a higher power doesn't like my actions, then they can strike me down. It's what I do on 4chan: >>729222274I have a sneaking suspicion that God wouldn't care if everyone on 4chan died.
>>729223782Fine choice.
I like playing magus in Pathfinder. They're melee combatants who cast spells. They're basically the same thing as a Paladin only they never had to get down on their knees before anyone to do what they do. All Paladins started as choir boys, with all of the... Uh, obligations, that cum with that.
>>729223892>a paladin retardYou're correct. Anyone can become one, but they're too retarded to have faith
>>729221279I just like playing Necromancer because I think overwhelming my enemies with my undead army is neat.
>>729224308no matter the game necro is always op as fuckguess nothing beats hiding behind 9001 skeletons
>>729223184You can knock them out
>>729221279Grim Dawn's Oathkeeper is pretty dope.Last time I played I made an auto attack build with those two summons, then I splashed on Nightblade for the invulnerability oh-shit button and the summons. So I walked around smacking shit while being followed by two hammer wielding holy ghosts and two storms of blades. Was that the best build? Fuck no.But it was pretty fun seeing all the Devotion Skills procing at once from all the simultaneous attacks.
>>729221906BG3 is the worst game to evil on>For all its relationship sim gameplay, you can legit go evil and there will be content supporting it.No there fucking won't. You miss out on 50% of act 2s quest by burning the druid place, there's nothing there, you lose out on two/three companions without being compensated for itBG3 has one of the worst evil paths in video game history
>>729224390I know that now, but I still think it's dumb. Why is killing treated so harshly in a game where the afterlife is confirmed to exist? If someone shot me dead when I walked out of my house, I wouldn't think>I hope that guy loses his Paladin powers.and I would be like "finally".
>>729223184Should've trained to be a better man so you can actually uphold your ideals then
>>729225432I do uphold my ideals, whether you believe it or not. If I didn't, this wouldn't happen.
>>729225556>fighting for your beliefs in kick chatI can't imagine a worse way to waste your time.

>>729221279necromancy/lichdom for me. I would love eternal silence, too much noise these days :)
>>729223860Which is hilarious, because it means you can swear an oath that is totally aligned to a chaotic evil perspective and play a paladin.
>>729227227>I swear to lie, rape, murder and steal!>suddenly get super powers (but not as much super powers as I would get by just lifting more bro and being a warrior)dnd ís fucking retarded
