Mario. It's just never clicked for me. I guess I don't really care for platformers as a whole, but also collectathons are a genre I find unimaginably dull, so both main draws of Mario are ones that miss me. Most of the spinoffs I find dull or unappealing for various reasons. The only one I've ever properly played end to end was Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door.

Nothing against the legend, it's just not for me.

Collectathons are innately dull. It's busywork: a game as a chore. You're a Mexican cleaning lady who has to dust up every speck. But the games before Mario 64 are not collectathons, and they pose some interesting challenges.
