The age group for MMOs is getting too old, and final fantasy as a brand doesn't seem to appeal to younger crowds. This just seems like a normal correction but that's not to ignore the current playerbases woes over Dawntrail and fears for 8.0 if the trend continues

I played 1.0, it was terrible. I got invited to the beta for 2.0 so I tried it out. It was more fluid than 1.x but it still felt like the same game. I was mostly curious where the story was going but I decided I would rather just wait for whatever story arc they're telling to finish instead of paying a subscription and getting bits of the story every 4 months. I returned to the game two months before Endwalker but I've had several times during Dawntrail where I thought about just going back on hiatus. The only difference now since then is that I've met people ingame to play with

I was under the impression that DT would be the beginning of the "next big thing" when in reality it turned out to be an intermission.
