Is it worth trying to play Dota in 2025? I tried playing it like 9 years ago, abandoned a couple of games due to frustration, got low priority or something like that and never launched the game again. Now YouTube is recommending Dota videos to me out of nowhere and I think I'll give it another shot.

dota isn't really worth getting into unless you have a friend or two to play it with and teach you. the amount of stuff you have to learn that the game does not teach you is absurd and always changing

Not really honestly. Too many weird subhuman griefers just like league so you’re locked in to a 50 minute game where the random shitskins run in every direction but their own team. But the other team is a premade though 90% of the time. Also you can’t type because some afghan cussed you out and you responded so you can’t type forever

I'd look up some basic GUI and control changes to make it a little easier to control and manage your chars, because there is something deeply fucked up about the community and their obsession with keeping the default settings exactly like the mod from 20 years ago... Many tweaks and gui settings provide a lot of little QOL changes and make the game far less difficult to understand and manage. That all said, I still like it. It's an ever green game like CS is imo and it could last another 20 years. The only thing I hate about the last two years has been their fucking retarded obsession with changing the fucking map around. It's stupid as shit, the game worked because the map was always the same so playing after a while of not was like a riding a bicycle. Now you try playing and it's like wtf is all this gay water? Where did all the obvious ward spots go? I'm all for qol and improving obnoxious mechanics (like the fixes to couriors and ward costs, and even adding static map wards are all great), but revamping the entire map is stupid. I just wish there were a classic mode with the old mod map, but with all the new mechanical and qol changes.
