I still haven't seen this game's appeal amount to anything more than "it doesn't suck".

Maybe it doesn't but that doesn't make it a good Sonic game. If Sonic fans have low standards I think this game exemplifies that better than any.

"It doesn't suck" automatically made it the best non-handheld Sonic game since Sega went third party, and the best non-Generations Sonic game since.

Also, it's a very good-looking Wii game. It's quite impressive that Sega got that hardware to produce something that beautiful with that hardware.
