I'm not expecting Strife to start talking about his buddy Keith but there's definitely some strange directions they could take the tone if they felt like experimenting.

War and Death actually love each other like siblings do, considering Death was willing to sacrifice himself just so that War got a 2nd chance. It's just that, War is kind of a very blunt autist with anger issues and problems with authority so Death also had to remind War when he was being retarded by cutting off his hand.There's some neat character dynamics on there, and Strife definitely tried chatting up War. It's just War was peak autismo energy. The other thing for them is that their job is the most important thing, so you it's hard to see those interactions when they're actively in a prolonged investigation like in Genesis.

>>729252939the best game in the series. it's a lot of fun, the story is engaging and even though it's simple and somewhat predictable it still kept me hooked. i really enjoyed the gameplay and although the pacing gets a bit slow towards the end, in the actual final hour and a half it picks back up and makes the overall experience really enjoyableliterally the opposite can be said about the second game, however. holy fuck is that one a painful slog. if you end up wanting to play that, take like a year break between this first one and that. otherwise you'll be sick of the first by the time you're done with the tutorial area (which is like more than 6 hours long)

>>729259197Exactly yeah, and the on rails portions and presentations got to be extremely good as the devs understood no one would probably retread those. Meanwhile, 2 was basically made to be a more open-ended RPG with dungeons and exploration and a large open world. It's a bit sad the way that cut content and a change in developer intent made the game play out, 2 was much more of an edgy fantasy RPG. I recall the first level was intended to be sort of like a mage town where you would get a ship to traverse the realms. Then that got remade into the kingdom of the dead instead and the guy's death boat you don't actually get to use. No use judging lost potential like that though.

Ds2 is from that era of games were a sequel expanded upon every good thing about its predecessor and cranked it up to a hundred.I miss this era of gaming. I literally cannot think of any sequel in recent years that did this, everything is either a rehash, a soft reboot or a glorified remake. No enrichment to be found.

>>729262915Redirect the beam puzzles and the gather the sword bits only happen around the latter end of the story. It thankfully doesn't happen near the end. Darksiders 2 kind of starts chugging HARD at the undead joint though, probably a little bit because enemy scaling becomes absurd afterwards.
