Basically you're wanting to load the model and context into the VRAM because that is far, far faster than the regular RAM. Once you start offloading shit to regular RAM the speed is drastically impacted. On HuggingFace, you can set up and account and go into your profile to tell it what kind of hardware you have. That can give you rough estimates on whether or not you can reasonably run a given model. You're going to be looking for 8B models. Look for stuff made by TheDrummer.
