I haven't seen much news outside of that announcement. I'd expect there would be some details, screen shots, or at least something but it doesn't get as far as that.

If there's any basis to it, I'd bet it would be a small DLC showing some lead up to The Witcher 4. Like, you play as Ciri for a bit to show why she dropped whatever she was doing post-TW3 ending and is focusing on whatever conflict TW4 is about. Probably nothing significant, more or less an advertisement to get people excited for TW4 and remind them how TW3 ended.

I dont think its anything but to hold us off until w4, and that won't be out until it's almost 2030. But it doesn't seem like much interest has gathered because people are seething about gta 6 being delayed. I forgot most of whats coming out next year, but I do have a legit feeling it will be overshadowed until w4 comes out.
The mindset of the development team, and the world that existed at the time of the Witcher 3 is gone. The DLC will likely reflect the modern sensibilities of the company. It's unfortunate, but don't be sad that it ended. Be glad that it happened. No matter what happens, they can never take away the happy memories you had playing the unadulterated original. None of their progressive meddling can ever change that, and it infuriates them.

If there's nothing beyond that, and nothing said by cdpr, its just a rumor. Or done by cdpr themselves to gather more interest in 3 and 4, but wouldn't make much sense to announce something that isnt happening or said themselves. But, with my 20+ years in gaming, sometimes rumors do come true. Maybe not in the way its said, but sometimes it does.
