Middle evolutions. There are no good middle evolutions in modern pokemon outside of pokemon that initially had two stages and got a third evolution in a future title eg. bisharp. What makes gen 2 memorable is something that nu-pokemon fans will never understand because they walk out of the second gym with level 50 fully evolved pokemon.
