now that de_ram has killed pc gaming. what console is everyone moving to
How fucked am I? Up to 5k+ errors now, 70% through the 3rd test.
thank god consoles don't use memory or SSDs
>>729262716set timings to jedec and drop frequency until it stops
>>729262716you have a 14900k so failing ram is the least of your issuesbtw only 1 error is enough to justify RMA
>>729262748>failing for OP bad bait
>>729262716That memory is pretty much e-waste at this point.
>>729262748The N64 literally required you to buy more RAM to play a couple of games/
>mfw upgraded my pc a few weeks before the price increaseThis is how it must have felt like to have quit your job at the Twin Towers a few days before 9/11
>>729262535come home white man
>>729262535>ram>pricesbut there’s no shortage
>>729263072The N64 was perhaps the most ill-conceived console in existence and it doesn't get as much shit about it as it should. I still keep reading people parroting the myth that it had twice as much memory as the PSX which meant double the texture quality when in reality it was shared across the entire system and was automatically taken up by the entire graphics and sound pipelines developers had no control over, meaning you effectively had less RAM to play with due to the system tax.
I just got myself a series x and it's amazing. Why the fuck do people get gaslighted that is crap or someshit?
it's over............
>>729264205>it had twice as much memory as the PSXYes, 4MB vs 2MB. The guy porting SM64 to PS1 also mentioned this and had to compress the animations. Also because CDs are slower.>which meant double the texture qualityOh, so you don't know anything.
>>729262823>>729262882>>729263020What problems should I expect to run into? I haven't had any BSODs, crashes, slowdowns/lag.
>>729264848>What problems should I expect to run into?BSODs, crashes, slowdowns/lag
>>729263704There's shortage 4U
I've got RAM, but I've become paranoid about my computer breaking because I wouldn't be able to afford to replace it. Will there be RAM repairing businesses opening up since it will be treated as an investment like a car or house now?
>>729265001All I've done was turn on XMP. I hadn't run MemTest86 before that (or ever, for that matter). I did after having turned on XMP, and it froze about three minutes in. Turned off and on, and run another to get what I posted earlier.I'm gonna guess the chances of it being false postives, especially that many, is unlikely? I don't feel like financing fucking RAM.
>>729262535I mostly play jrpgs and indies, so switch 2 or steam deckNo need for a pc
>>729265338>I'm gonna guess the chances of it being false postivesNone, memtest expects an exact result anything that isn't is a failure. Why it's failing can be caused by multiple factors, bad memory chips being the most common, unstable overclock/extreme temps can do it. Sometimes poor quality motherboards without enough traces to the RAM and failing IMC on the CPU are possibilities as well but far rarer. The only exception I guess would be solar interference but you aren't exactly on an airplane right now.If you disable XMP and run the test again and don't get failures it means your RAM isn't capable of running at those speeds.
>>729265535Guess I'll try that. I only checked to see if was, and then proceeded to, enabled because an anon in another thread said my shit wasn't being fully utilized when I posted my specs.
>>729265827I just noticed that the RAM info is different now, actually. That's supposed to be static too isn't it? This one is showing factory stated timings, where I see my less recent screenshot is NOT that at all.I did both a BIOS and firmware update today as well, would that have anytnhing to do with it?
>>729266138I'm guessing those are 2x16GB kits rated at 7200MT/s (3600Mhz) but you bought two kits for 4 sticks in total which absolutely throws that rating out the window. You should probably try the next option down 6000MT/s (3000Mhz).
>>729266294Correct. For you to point it out in such a way, I'm guessing that isn't what I should've done when building? But what's the issue with doing that?
>>729266485When manufacturers sell RAM in kits they guarantee it at those speeds if you use that kit by itself, adding additional RAM induces more stress on the integrated memory controller and RAM itself, quad kits with high speeds are insanely expensive for this reason because guaranteeing stability with 4 sticks is not easy. If you do mix two kits it's just pot luck if you get something good or not. There's also the fact that DDR5 itself has quirks when it comes to two vs four sticks of RAM and in general if you want maximum speed (6000 for AMD 7000+ for Intel) you stick to two sticks maximum.
>>729266732Typed out a reply obly to get BSOD'd, lmao.Okay, so essentially what I've ended up doing was asking it to pull 14400MHz, which is clearly not meant to be done. You said to lower it to 6000MHz, but shouldn't I try to go to 1800MHz? That way the max cumulative load between all four sticks shouldn't exceed 7200MHz? But then I'd probably have figure out the lower timings, wouldn't I?
>>729263616>Man shows game orientated for kidsngmi
>>729262535china will release affordable consumer ram but you should wait like 3 months after release for reviews
>>729262535>de_rami don't know that map, is it like dust2?
>>729267593Use the second XMP profile the RAM has which is 3000MHz (6000 MT/s). It will automatically use the timings provided for that XMP profile as well.
>>729262535Sorry, my computers still work.
>>729267952So don't bother going lower, then? And leave XMP off if I continue to have issues after that?
>>729267952>>729268215Lower than 6000, I mean.
>>729268215It's just more work to increase your speed if the second profile isn't stable, but it should be fine. For future reference DDR stands for Double Data Rate which is why transfer speeds are double the clock speed, it isn't clock speed X amount of sticks.
>>729262535But de_ram is a good Counter-Strike map.
>>729262535eck
>>729268404I did learn that when figuring out how to do shit in my BIOS.Much appreciated, anon.
pc bros we got cocky
>>729265030It'll affect you even if you're using 2U
>>729263704there's plenty of ram but the ceo of the trendiest company in the world traded a jet plane full of 12 year olds for the exclusive right to buy it at below market rates. so (you) can't have any.
