He fits SO well that it's hard to believe Bowser's Inside Story didn't specifically make him for it.

Bowser's antics usually just amount to gigantic elaborate stormings of the Mushroom Kingdom for the sole purpose of getting with Peach, or occasionally a power grab so he can get to Peach, because he's a romantic sap. Meanwhile, almost every other Mario Universe villain is actively trying to destroy the world/brainwash everyone/kill thousands/etc.
