This is not an advertisement. I always see these things being promoted and I'm wondering if any anons here use them. I don't know much about emulations or anything but these things have thousands of retro games installed and are very cheap. Thoughts?
>>729269630Ask /hhg/ on /vr/, they'll shill you some alternatives you can weigh the benefits of.
>should I buy a $20 device for $60?
>>729269630looks like cheap unergonomic slop
There are better devices depending on how much you want to spend.
>>729269630No. The screens are washed out and the buttons are shit. Like the other anon said that's just a dropshipped other device too.
they're total dogshit
>>729269738>>729269781>>729269831>>729270384What are better alternatives that offer the same functions for a similar (or cheaper) price?
>>729270625I like the Trimui Brick. it's more expensive but it has a really good display and also has bluetooth/wireless and smaller form factor. Doesn't have joysticks, but games up to PS1 don't really need it.If you want something cheaper, then you could get the RG35XX series. It has a clamshell, vertical and horizontal option. If you absolutely want joysticks, then you can pay a little more and get a version with it. Just visit the Anbernic website and look at all the models.
>>729269630I have it. I got it two weeks ago and used it every day since. But it has bad buttons, bad ergonomics, and a bad screen so yesterday I ordered an anbernic rg ds.The rg ds has been shit on by redditors and sloptubers for reasons irrelevant to me. it lets me play rpgs on top and have a dictionary on the bottom so it's all i need. i dont even care about the ds emulation aspectbut when you're shopping for these things you have basically two categories of devices : under $100s and androids.Under $100s all have the same or similar chipsets and all of them emulate nes/snes and ps1, with some dreamcast and n64. The difference between them is the form factor and such. recently there have been some new under 100s that run android and have stronger chips toothe other category is android devices. these are going to run you $200+. all android devices have 4 frames of input lag baked into android so if you want to play retro games you're better off with the under $100s that just have regular linux. these android devices usually have a wide 16:9 and they have stronger chips that let you emulate ps2/gcn/wii/switch. redditors and consumers usually shill these.so if you actually play games get a $100 or less linux device. anbernic makes devices that have shells exactly like all of the nintendo handhelds, you can get one that looks like an sp or gba or gb micro. miyoo flip is good for the price too. start with one of these, aim to spend ~$40-50 instead of ~$20-30. it's well worth it. and if you decide you like handhelds and you want to play ps2 games you can get an android device later
