remove sprint from halo please
>>729273150I literally only have back button controllers because of this and “press B to crouch/slide/dodge”.

>>729273452For me its extra trigger buttons for that shit
>>729274049Might as well just have a whole numpad back there.
>no option to toggle sprint>have to hold ctrl the entire time
>>729273150just map L3 to one of the paddles
>>729274603>anon has never heard of glue
>>729274049>>729274363Are you expected to have some extra long alien fingers, or are you just supposed to hold your controller like a retard to be able to comfortably press these?
My controller has extra triggers at the back that I can reassign to any other button, I set them as L/R 3
If your game needs more buttons than those provided by the industry standard (4 face, 4 shoulder) in order to optimally control, then it is a failure of game design.
>>729274921>It's the game that has to conform and not the input methodImagine appealing to the common retard those standards are built for.
>>729275264Yes you fucking idiot, the game has to conform to whatever hardware limitations that are in place.
>>729273150This is one of the big reasons as to why I switch to PC, those cocksuckers want you to press L3/R3 for extended periods of time in games so that you can induce stick drift as soon as possible so that you can buy a new controller, I learned my lesson with the DS3 controller, fuck sony.
>>729273150>I have to customize my experience Customize your junk fucking trans adjacents get what your given faggits
>buy pic relatedwasn't even worth it desu
>>729275385I'm not going to deny stick drift exists since I understand the science behind it, but I have never had a single one of my analog stick controllers since PS1 ever develop any kind of drift. The rubber top, though? Gets completely sticky and gross even when I religiously wash my hands before each session. The stick mechanics start to get grindy due to lube drying out over the years. Some sticks develop terrible overshoot due to weakened springs. But the drift issue has literally never happened to me.I don't know if I'm just extremely lucky or what.
>>729275717>has no hall-effect sticks or triggersWHAT WERE THEY THINKING????
>>729274921kys. controllers should have way more fucking buttons than they do. this standardization of everything is fucking retarded

>>729275892>hall effecteven the $200 ps5 pulse elite controller or whatever doesn't use thosethey are a meme for autists, you are not an esports pro you don't need them
>>729275385Depressing the L3/R3 buttons has very little physical effect on the potentiometers which is where stick drift comes from
>>729274667Your pointer naturally rest on them when idling on r1/l1, using a two-finger grip with your long finger also helps.
>>729273150>Press L3 while running to jump
sprint doesn't work sometimes in cyberpunk 2077. it's so gay I hate L3
>>729273150How did this idea ever take off? It's the most unergonomic shit ever.
Whoever invented stick click buttons should have their hands smacked by a nun with a yardstick at least 12 times.
>>729276604Stop playing with your feet.
>>729274049I use the ones in the back. Fuck breaking my R3/L3 on Elden Ring trying to lock on enemies or jumping out of Torrent

>>729276276>The Gods of Olympus have abandoned me
>>729276048Confirmed for never even touching something with hall effect, 100%.>owned a bunch of controllers over the years>cheap shit, brand-name shit, enthusiast shit>some break, some wear out, some get drift weirdly fast like this one $100 controller I got from Best Buy once (loved it otherwise though. Sucked when I opened it to find it was not user-serviceable, it felt like opening a bucket of LEGO bricks onto my table)>finally get a cheap hall effect piece of shit controller on Amazon for like $20 just because I wanted something different>sticks feel super accurate and buttery smooth, best sticks I've ever used>controller lasts forever and it's only collecting dust now because I got the same controller again but with more buttons>HE sticks plus the extra buttons means I actually play fuckin' Warframe on controller when I don't feel like doing KB+M>eventually get into chinkheld shit>chinkheld has hall effect sticks and feels like greased butter again>for some reason, most chinkhelds with sticks tend to have HE, even some of the $30 shit>still feels better than all enthusiast-tier first-party controllers I've ever touchedIt's not even a price thing, 100% the reason MS/Sony/Nintendo are all dragging their feet on it is because they WANT you to get stick drift, they want you to throw your controllers out and buy new ones the second some dust or a hair gets in there.
>>729277380 (me)I forgot to mention there's also some new shit invented after hall effect. I don't know what it's called, but that's the MLG PRO GAMER 1337 thing right now. Hall effect is some old timer shit at this point, and basic-ass sticks are prehistoric.
>>729277287I'm talking about wear.
>>729277543Hall effects been around since the mind 1800's, someone owns the patents to the form factor in controllers which is partially why Sony/M$ don't bother. If my DS5 starts to develop drift I plan on replacing mine with hall sensors.
>>729277543>Hall effect is some old timer shit at this point,And yet watch big corps still avoid the bloody thing like the plague. Fucking grifters. At least Xbox has some third party allowed, I never seen anythign like it from Sony.
>>729277643Yet dozens of other companies can apply it without litigation?
>>729277550My man, I austically click my sticks constantly and I've never had them break.I think you might just be a bit of a tard.
>>729277974They're probably paying the license fees. Unless they're Chinese who don't give a fuck.
>>729278032>My man, I austically click my sticks constantly and I've never had them break.
>>729277737You know you can just slap hall effect sticks in any controller, right?
>>729278080I do believe you are the blue dot in this case, I'm afraid.I've never heard of widespread complaints about "clicking analog sticks too much breaks them"
>>729277737third party controller makers stopped caring about being licensed, its just a meaningless tax
>>729278092Next, you convince gamers that they can just play on lower graphics.
>>729277737Of course, how are they going to keep selling you new controllers if they stop breaking every few months?
>>729273150I fail to see the problem.
>>729278129Sure.
>>729278129It's really any motion. They use friction-based potentiometers, and using them wears them down at uneven rates. Over time, they drift in the direction you wore down first.>>729278173I'm arguing the opposite. Put the sticks you want in the controller you want for the best experience. Play on max settings because $2500 isn't a lot for a GPU.
>>729273649I prefer the gears thumb on a, index curled on stick.
It feels so freeing to be able to put your arms wherever you want when you play. You should try it.
>>729278294>let go with left hand to scratch your nose or reach for the keyboard>half your controller fell under the desk
>>729278210Why do people not know how to properly groom their fingernails?
>>729278445Why do you care so much about what another dudes fingernails look like? You a woman or something?
>>729277380Exactly, they make no money selling good controllers that you only need to buy once every 5-7 years. They make 10x that if you have to replace them every 6 months. I
>>729276276there is some kind of explain about this retarded beavior ?

>>729274921>pc games are le bad...
>>729274921Bait aside, I still wish they'd at least make back paddles standard, just sucks to have all those fingers sitting back there doing jack shit. The main problem with controllers, and why people sometimes need to claw grip, is that your thumbs do 90% of the work but can only be in one place at a time; you can't turn the camera while dodge rolling, or turn around while reloading.
>>729277543 (me)Looked it up, the new MLG PRO GAMUUUURRR 3133T thing right now is apparently called "TMR" and it really is just hall effect but 9999999999x more accurate, I guess. THAT shit's definitely for the sweatiest of enthusiast purists, though I don't know how common it is yet.
Does clicking still destroy Hall Effect sticks over time?
>>729273704Gran turismo 2 fucked my X button but it was worth it
Sprinting is a bad mechanic. The player character should move forward at that sprint speed normally.Pressing in the sticks is a bad input. They should be removed and controllers should get an extra two face buttons.
>>729280826>Pressing in the sticks is a bad input.pressing the stick is only a bad input if you have to use it while also moving the stick with precisionusing it to recenter a camera or lock onto targets is fine
>>729277380>It's not even a price thingIt is>100% the reason MS/Sony/Nintendo are all dragging their feet on it is becauseThey have warehouses of controllers and deals with manufacturers who have a ton of old ass sticks. If they were to shift over to Hall Effect sticks as the standard, they'll have a lot of existing product that may as well go in the trash. They won't switch over until the next generation years from now. When they do, they'll make a big deal out of it as though it just became a thing.
>>729274049I have the new model which has both those and back buttons and I use the back left button for L3 all the time

I press C to sprint
>>729280572Yes, but supposedly it has longer durability than the normal stuff, don't remember the name. Just be smart and get one of those controllers with a bunch of buttons, then customize them appropriately. Broke one? Use another. It won't save everything, but better than no one.
>>729282097Yep, this is the controller.
>>729277380tinker tranny I bet you use linux lol
>>729273649I am not doing this shit ever, I play to have fun
>>729282097I have one of these and I think the d=pad is already fucking up, the right input on it seems to just not work sometimes, I don't know if the controller is not connecting properly or if it's the controller itself fucking up.
>>729282913probably the controllermy b button is double clicking after a year of daily use
>>729275385pay somebody to solder the TMR sticks on ur pad
>>729276389Same. But the whole combat sucks anyway, you might as well just play it like gta
>>729273150The button who will destroy your controller.I hate the obligation to use L3 and R3.
>>729281628>be nintendo>start labeling trigger as ZL and bumper as L>still label left stick as L3
>>729285727Based on my experience, frequent use of L3 and R3 can cause stick drift
what's the best controller for PC that has extra buttons like paddle buttonsshould I wait for steam controller
>>729285836The only thing that causes drift is the use of potentiometers.
>>729274921microsoft kneecapped pc gaming with xinput's arbitrary limitations while deprecating directinput at the same time.
>>729282913>>729283256Its just how micro switches be sometimes. Idk how one of these looks inside but assuming you can open it up you can replace them if you know how to solder, its just 2 pins (most are) its pretty easy
