At some point in your gaming journey (Once you hit 25 or so), you need to stop just playing games and start making them. Why?>Reason one: So you understand how insanely complex game development is, and gain real appreciation for what devs doinstead of criticizing them like a football armchair analyst.>Reason two:If you keep playing, keep consuming, you’ll never live a fulfilled life. Creation gives meaning.Create. Stop consuming.Real life analogy: When you were born, you were born into the family that your parents built, not yours. At some point, you need to leave the nest and start building your own family, instead of leeching off of your parents.
>Once you hit 25 or soWhat, degrees?
>>729277785I'm waiting for Unreal Engine 6, so I can start prompting games. Are you excited for the golden age of gaming?
>>729277785Please present your riveting, award winning, complex game. Failure to do so will result in your faggotry levels reaching new heights.
>>729277785>reddit spacing
>>729277785I should, but I have creation paralysis.Should I make a strategy game like fire emblem?Should I try to make an FPS? An ARPG?Should I use AI slop? I can't draw, write, animate, code, make music, or 3D model.
>>729277785Will steam accept my nudist loli game if I list them all as canonically 20+?I will give some pubic hair and some decently large breasts as well desu.
>>729277785wuchang is basically the game i always wanted to make. so i have no reason to do so
>>729277785>Real life analogy: When you were born, you were born into the family that your parents built, not yours. At some point, you need to leave the nest and start building your own family, instead of leeching off of your parents.yes goyim build your own, buy a new house, consume!
I am making a game. It's actually something never been done before on PC. I think devs in the genre might either be too scared, risk averse, or just plain uncreative. Definitely niche though and probably too intense for most people so I dont think it'll do well. That's ok though, I find it very fun.
>>729277785I made 2 simple games once and I don't want to keep going, it's not worth it unless you're really passionate about it
>>729278824What type of games did you make?
>>729278890one was a copy of an old arcade game and another was a simple project in unity we never got too far into developmentboth were for uni projects
>>729278423What was your vision for your game?
I made some RPGMaker games when I was a kid, that was good enough.
>>729278016Same. I wanna make a hunting game where the "deer" start hunting you after a couple nights.
>>729278345Make an ARPG FPS that's not trash like Borderlands. The world actually does need this.
>>729278345try to make all three and keep working on them until you are satisfied or feel like you can't handle it. thats literally all devs actually do>I can't draw, write, animate, code, make music, or modelno one else is naturally good at those things, try doing them and see if any of them stick, then fill the gaps with placeholders if you want to get serious
>>729278345Just buy your assets and throw something together. You can make your own art as you go, or later. If you don't know what to make then you should focusing on trying out a lot of shit to figure out what's appealing.
>>729277785Cringe.
i know nothing about programming
My video game idea is entirely unmarketable.
>>729279926Not an excuse with AI agents.
>>729280042then how did two people make Sakuna of Rice and Ruin? I don't want to make ripoffs or waste time.
>be in school, living in a shared dorm>get idea for game>start writing a design document>fill an entire 300 page notebook with every detail of how it should be, even down to how i want the music to sound in each area>start playing around with different game engines, start to pick up the basics of coding>one of the dipshits living in the dorm starts a grease fire>my room is next to the kitchenMy will to make a game burned up with that notebook. In recent years I've slowly started to write down bits and pieces of my dream, but I know I'll never be able to make it reality.C'est la vie.
what about motivation
>>729277785I have zero willpower and desire to create. I wish I did, but I don’t.
>>729277785I'm too intimidated to try making anything more complicated than weird RPG Maker stuff
Being a game dev is the worst thing you can do to yourself. You must really REALLY love people to cater to them so much in game devYou will be bitched atComplained atGet shit onHave to deal with retarded questions over and over and over and overAnd eventually doxxed once some schizo believes you have dishonored him This is all of course, assuming you get any level of fame whatsoever and not just waste your time by throwing more sloppa into the burning trash pile that is Game DevelopmentI implore any young person to NEVER take the game dev path, its the worst thing you can do to yourselfI wish I worked a 9 to 5 as a mindless drone. This shit is not funAnd there are no rewards at the end of the tunnelThe greatest thing assuming you make the most popular game ever made is to get an award from Doritto's pope or have an undertale tier fanbase that will constantly DM you
>>729280158Losing your design docs stuff shouldn't have really put a dent in anything, that shit should have all been in your head anyway. Think of how devastating it would have been if you had lost a bunch of finalized assets and scripts
>>729280282If it wasn't for them, the gaming industry would never exist
>>729280282>boohoo people will be mean to me if I'm constantly onlinethis has nothing to do with gamedev you stupid thinskinned faggot
>>729280282>You will be bitched at by the autistic screeching furries and karens on my social media that I use for attention Bro, just make the game and then release it
>>729280354It should have never existed There is no good that has come out of the past 30 years of developmentIt should have been relegated to a niche fun hobby like model TrainsBut now that there's too much money in it the hobby and it'll always continue to get worse
>>729280480You think you can just ignore it, but the other side of game development is having to build a fanbase and advertising if you ever want to growYOU WILL HAVE TO RESPOND TO THE FURRIESYOU WILL HAVE TO RESPOND TO THE CHINESEAND YOU HAVE TO BE NICEOR else you get review bombed to shit and die in poverty
>>729278016Retard alert lol
>>729280282I want to take the Helltaker route and just have draw fanart of the game's characters. I don't even want money.
