Yes

I finished that one a few months ago. Would have been nice to have the DX version's upgrades.
>>
>>729284434
that's a lot of maps

what do I play next? I've only done x-fusion and junkoid
>>
Always appreciate when romhacks go the extra mile and give me a good boxart
>>
>>729282202
>fanmade

No thanks.
>>
No romhack has ever been better than the original game.
>>
>>729282202
>tranime hack
>literally called itself junk
kek, at least they're self aware
>>

damn I didn't know this got an update last month. I played like a year ago, was pretty kino. I'll definitely replay it, the changelog mentions new content too

Try Subversion and Ascent
>>
>>729285097
nonsense. many romhacks are flat improvements to a game, like Chrono Trigger+ and Final Fantasy VI T-Edition
>>
I loved Super Junkoid when I played it last year, have they changed much?

>>729285052
It's a ZM hack, but "Spooky Mission 2: The Nightmare Before Christmas" is really delightful.
>>
>>729285264
I personally didn't care for T-Edition because it was a real slog at times. You enter a new area and the first encounter has three enemies that inflict an annoying status that you can't be immune to yet (or death) and all three inflict it in the first round.

With Metroid it's not about being better than Super Metroid, just about having new content.

That said there are GBA Metroid hacks better than Fusion, that almost counts.

What a sharteen does on a holiday
>>
>>729285569
This. I could play Mario and Metroid hacks basically forever. The base game is perfect I just want new content.
>>
Why did link to the past rom hacking never take off like mario world or super metroid?
>>
>>729285080
They did a whole ass instruction book too. It's kino.

Designing puzzle dungeons connected by a cohesive overworld is harder than making discrete platforming levels.
>>
>>729287092
Designing a good Metroidvania map is difficult too and yet there are a ton of great super metroid hacks
>>
>>729284434
You played all of those? I like some but I really hate when they have retarded shit like Gravity Suit behind water areas that shit is an instant miss me with that shit

Yeah, it's pretty cool shit. The author of this series likes his fine details.
There's also an RPG Maker game in the series in the Yume Nikki style simply titled 'Junko' that is pretty good.

Let's rephrase a little.
Designing puzzle dungeons around the existing items on top of having said items act as overworld progression is harder to get a good grasp on because unlike mario and metroid, LttP isn't exactly a game that has super duper sauce from high skill beyond speedrunning glitches, which are silly shit compared to how mario and metroid's platforming can be taken to grand lengths.

Just at a base level, smw has a great amount of utility with shell throws which romhackers take advantage of by altering physics to get Mario maker-styled Shell jumps, or just about any of the many platforming stunts Samus has that can be mildly improved by backporting QoL from later games (i.e, Respins), Link's controls are dead fucking simple that you can't really do much with moving and swinging a sword.

Same with needing to go through heat areas before you get the Varia suit. It's slightly better if the game at least tells you that you need it, but most do not.

Either way it's just not fun. Going through water in Super Metroid is painfully slow and boring.

On that note, the most that comes out of LttP were the randomizers because honestly, LttP as a pseudo open-world game just clicks right that no romhack would ever replicate that.
LttP has potential for cool romhacks, but i think that any ideas to make additions to LttP's gameplay just end up becoming too ambitious that by that point, you're better off making a whole new game.

uooooh Junkoid cunny, damn brat doesn't like being worshipped, needs correction

Super Junkoid was good. So was Vitality.
>>
>>729287217
I can't remember which one it was, but one did that in a neat way
You basically had an infinite jump while in water but still had water physics
>>
>>729282202
>>729285080
why is there a naked girl? Does she get naked in the game?
>>
What happened with romhacking.net? Didn't they say they were going to stop taking submissions a while back? I can see new hacks are still being uploaded.
>>
>>729292323
Wasn't there like some hack or hijack or something?
