this is one of the most beautiful and vibrant games ever made with soulslike gameplay as a bonus

>thoughts?

Its a janky mess with corridor level design and superfluous mechanics coupled with unreal engine stutters and empty maps with no interactivity

c'mon design is very charming and fighting is pretty cool, combat has weight and oomph to it. It's one of those vibe games

I loved the first game but I couldn't bring myself to finish this one.
My biggest problem is the tight, nuGOW-esque world design that makes exploring feel awful. This is worsened by the lack of objective markers and a good map.
The gameplay is also worse than the first game for a few reasons:
1. The "One Law" game you play is kinda awful.
It's RNG heavy as fuck and if you get a bad roll and the enemy gets a good roll, you're forced to play until you eventually lose. However, the dice game is hardly worth playing in the first place because nearly every fight in this game is a group fight but only the leader of the group gets affected by the curse. So you take on all the risk of playing the dice game with very little reward.
2. You feel less powerful than in the first game.
In the first game, you can do cool moves like a windup punch that sends your enemies flying or a dodge that seamlessly flows into a counter kick, which is fun and badass.
In this game, you can have special attacks like a shoryuken but they don't even feel good to use. When I use a shoryuken, I want to see the enemies flying in the air dammit, not just fall over.
3. It's as janky, if not more than, the first game which came out in 2009.

TL;DR I did not care for this game.

dice game kinda saved me in the end. Final boss was very hard but i won the dice game and summoned giant enemy from the last fight and he solo'd the boss

Got it a few months after release, loved it. Going to replay it sometime next year. Great combat, Zenozoik remains a fascinating setting, and the writing was doing the same shit as Dad of War but with characters that didn't suck.

I got this because someone kept recommending it on the steal sale threads, was it you?

For me it was disappointing. Worse combat and aesthetically inferior to the Zeno Clash games.

It's frankly the only thing that could get me to play a soulslike because i love Zeno Clash and Ace Team games in that universe. Eternal Cylinder is also a fever dream worth experiencing. I played it purely for the adventure and i wasn't disappointed. As for the complaints of janky gameplay for the first comment in the thread, so was Zeno Clash and that is not specifically why i liked it. Just the themes, it's absurd stuff that is hard to find elsewhere.

I like Zeno stuff in general

>beat em up combat
>soulslike gameplay

Turning it into yet another soulsslop game is not a "bonus"

no but it was totally worth it, right?

what's so bad with would soulslike gameplay? it's curated experience without artificial difficulty where every loot and enemy counts
