What am I in for?
>>
Titan Quest but worse
>>
>>729296449
lots of yawning
>>
some of these are saved by the soundtrack and artstyle but grim dawn is just an ugly unmemorable game that plays the same as any other in the genre
>>
A lot of bewilderment trying to get two classes to work together (the classes are not well designed enough to synergize in all combinations)
If you play on any difficulty besides normal get ready to die instantly to ground effects you can't see mid-combat
>>
>>729296557
The sound track really isn't that good either, it's like a 7/10, more like 5/20 if you're comparing it to Diablo or Torchlight. It's passable and does its job though.
Anyway op the game is ok. The dual class system is kinda nice but I think last epoch does a better job of the multiple trees and cool combos.
Definitely worth one playthrough but probably won't become the perpetual grind/podcast game that d2lod or poe is
>>
>>729296449
We have diablo at home.

yaw

I hear it's a solid mediocre run of the mill nothing to write home about game that is more of the same. So it's probably okay. Like a 6/10 which is really good for an ARPG.
>>
>>729296449
Titan Quest, but faster, if you would install non-release branch (i.e. specifically preserved pre-rework version of the game) - latest big patch had changed several things, namely adding rolls. So with release branch you'll get rolls. Don't listen to >>729296650, OP, he hadn't even started playing the game.
Always read lore, it often contains not only lore, partially made through hints, but also certain ways to reach certain places.
Always explore - secrers are everywhere.
Always read "green" items, they could be even build-defining.
Basically, you get exploration-lore autism initially, build-making autism in the end if you're into it.
Ah, and developers develop this game for far too long, so i don't expect new addon to be thematically fitting, even the desert one already felt quite off in some places.
>>729296650
>he doesn't know about a fuckton of damage transmutating items
>he doesn't use monster infrequents
>he had't played any diabloid and doesn't build resists
>>
>>729296449
Pretty much the only good ARPG. Everything else is overall dogshit. Diablo 2 had a better atmosphere which means nothing for the genre, that's about it
>>
>>729296449
more like grim yawn
>>
>>729296449
It's the only ARPG I've enjoyed after D2.
>>
>>729296449
The best Diablolike but it's so ugly I had to refund.
>>
I stopped playing when I realized that the skills for my class are useless and that I was going to be spamming the same spell for the next 20 hours
>>
The most boring fucking thing I've ever played.
And this is the absolute best of the Diablo-likes?
>>
>>729297992
The best Diablo-like is still Darksiders Genesis.
>>
>>729296449
A pretty good ARPG
>>
>>729296449
A bell curve of enjoyment based on time played.
>>
>>729296449
A good Diablo-like for people who don’t like tradeslop and always online ruining their games
>>
>>729296449
Diablo 2 sucessor
>>
One of those mid games you somehow pump 200+ hours into and dont remember a single thing about it or if you even enjoyed yourself during that time.

The closet thing to a Diablo 2 successor out there.

Probably the easiest arpg in existence
>>
>>729296449
KINO offline, no microshartsactions, no server issues, play at your own pace, top tier ARPG
complainers are D4 and POOe tards
>>
the class system is a cool gimmick but I never really got into the game beyond just leveling characters to the point of getting your second class over and over to see what the combinations were called
>>
>>729300359
>Probably the easiest arpg in existence
That's Path of Exile, you retarded faggot.

the real enjoyment were the legendary items we found along the way

thats every mindless grind ARPG ever retard
i feel the same way about D3, PooE, Warframe
if you were to ask me if i remember anything from these games in terms of story and/or builds i couldnt tell you
and in some of those ive put more than 1k hours in

you could just look at the wiki

EXPANSION WHEN???
>>
>>729296449
Play inquisitor with word of pain to finish 1-50 in an hour
>>
>>729296557
One thing I do at least appreciate about this game is that it's not always online seasonal shit. Its kind of refreshing knowing there is more or less an ending and best in slot items to aim for.
>>
>>729296449
It is not bad, but the character building is far too complicated by it's own good. There are so much stuff to level up that it's easy to cripple yourself, and the worst thing is that you can only reset your skill points when you're near the endgame.
>>
>>729300883
next year
>>729300942
they intended the game to be that way (for characters to reach a 'bis' as you put it and to have an endpoint)
>>
>>729300948
are you serious? You can reset skill points anytime at the seer woman hidden in the corner
>>
>>729301105
Yeah, I mean attribute and devotion points that are just as important or even more. Like I said, way too many ways to cripple yourself in here.
>>
>>729300948
>character building is far too complicated
how? you pick skills and passives that help you scale, like if you're using fire skills you obviously don't pick passives that boost cold damage.
my last character went all in on minions, using an acid buff to boost damage, it's very simple.
>>
>>729301315
I went in blind with a demolitionist. I made a glass cannon able to one shot almost everything but unable to take any damage. When I realized that elemental defense was the main priority in this game it was far too late for me change things around.
>>
>>729301301
Everything is resetable except the Mastery itself which can only be brought down to 1. You can reset your devotions and skill points early on. You can get attribute potions late game. If you want to be safe with ATTs, put everything into Physical.
>>
>>729301475
Just slap resistance components on until you find more resistant gear
>>
>>729300948
>character building is far too complicated by it's own good
What are you talking about, it's much simpler than poe.
>>
>>729301475
PoE taught me to always aim for capped resistances.
it gets easier to adjust your resistances the further you get into the game, it's all about using attachments, and occasionally sacrificing a little bit of damage for survivability
>>
>>729301315
the game is kinda misleading though with the dual class system
it implies you can expect to do multiple things well. I tried to make a Death Knight type character (Soldier/Necro) that can melee and have minions. Nope. You just stack 1 damage type like every other boring ARPG
>>
>>729296503
What's better about TQ other than older = better, newer = worse?
>>
>>729301695
I don't think it gives that implication, but I get how you got that idea and it would be a lot more fun if the class combo gave some inherent scaling between the two.
>>
>>729301742
Definitely the setting. Grim Dawn devs promised an industrial revolution setting which was pretty fresh for such a game and the main reason I bought it back when they only had 1 act. They completely failed to deliver on that shit. 95% of the game consists of generic wilderness, generic olde crypts and generic castles. The only thing hitting at this being an industrial revolution setting were breechloading guns, remove them from a loot pool and it will become a generic medieval.
The only thing that looked like what was promised was a part of 1st dlc (which happens to be the best part of the whole game), however then it was
>lmao you're in egypt
>lmao totally-not-vikangz
Embarrassing.
>>
>>729302095
>Definitely the setting.
idk man i just started playing this shit and its some lame ass ancient greek mythology like bro i saw hercules as a kid, i get it its not that interesting anymore. everyone knows what a damn satyr is
>>
>>729303012
dis nigga playing titan quest
not even the same devs
>>
>>729301695
kinda true but you can still slap some points on a minion that will get buffed with +skills to tank a hit or another
if you go occultist you get an aura that gives insane HP regen that you can get 5 minions with 1 point each and the rest pure poison/chaos/vit damage
>>
>>729301475
You can't brick yourself. Every combo in the game can easily get all resistances capped because that's mostly going to come from gear and components. Demo has Blast Shield anyways it's actually a great class defensively just because of that. It activates at only 60% health, recharges quickly, and gives you a ton of resistances and flat damage absorption.
Faction rep is the main bottleneck once you have augments unlocked you can get a ton of extra resistances on your gear. It can be a little rough before that trying to piece it all together, but you can't brick a character.
>>
>>729302095
I started TQ recently and feel like they wasted potential with the setting.
I'm in act 3 and still killing the same old shitty bats and skeletons.
It just makes we want to play GD which has a weird setting but I don't mind that and the gameplay feels more fluid.
>>
>>729300469
Take your pick, both easy and boring as shit
>>
>start playing, deciding on what my first build will be
>take a quick look at masteries, want to make a 2h smasher guy so I go with warder
>later on after gearing the shit out of that character I realize how strong the build is and can’t really have fun with others due to the power gap
fuck
>>
>>729306649
This game is very well balanced. A complete meme build is maybe 50% as strong as a perfectly solved fully optimized build (as long as you've implemented your meme correctly that is), as opposed to shit like poe where it's not even 5%.
Also 2h warder is strong but it's definitely not some kind of ultimate power gap build. Some things that play completely different that I suggest you to try would be
>Harbinger-set based occultist+something (IIRC shaman would work good because of how good savagery is). One of very few ranged builds that are actually ranged instead of standing in melee range to use shotgunning WPS. Just make sure to convert to chaos damage, vitality damage is shit.
>Caster demolitionist that casts grenades. There is a set for that which supports lightning damage, so second class is likely arcanist.
Both will be just as good if not better if you have correct gear.
Also I have zero knowledge about pet builds, but something there will certainly be very strong.
>>
>>729296449
Is that sexy woman in the game?
>>
>>729308378
just gonna wait for fangs expac to see if they raise power levels further
>>
>>729308957
You can join her faction even.
