I have the impression that TP for zoomers is the equivalent of OoT for millenials, they have comparable amounts of nostalgia for each, while seeing the other game as a bit disappointing in comparison.

I took a break from Nintendo in the GC era. I got a Wii and TP in 2008 and it's the most excited I've been for a game in a while, it made Zelda my favorite series again. I'm not gonna say it's better than the ones when I was a kid, ALTTP and OOT will always be the best to me, but it's incredible how many people say it's a shit game. It definitely went full on just trying to be a standard Zelda game to best of its abilities with no gimmicks, besides the tacked on waggle.I still like BOTW but none of the shit it does I'd consider amazing enough that all Zeldas need to be THAT open and have weapon durability. Then TOTK is just Garry's Mod, I already played that before TP even released and after it released I was sex posing Midna in GMod which you still can't do with any character in TOTK so GMod was just better.

In retrospect that was soulful as fuck, but unfortunately a Wii was fucking impossible to find that year. Ended up having to call a handful of stores a day for 2 weeks before one showed up in a Gamestop 45 minutes away. We got it, beating 2 other families who were also trying to get there.
