No idea if this was even a thing in non-german speaking countries, but these were cool. I was a kid so I have no idea if the mechanics hold up but the actual settings, story and maps were great. The second one even had aztecs and shit I think. It was cool

Slavjank Deus Ex/ Far Cry FPS RPG. Pretty good in the obscure jank game kind of way. it's an experience in the same way that you all might look at that indie game brigand oaxaca being an experience. Except this is in some regards is higher effort. It has bugs and is flawed, but it's alright.

>>729340196Whilst that game Boiling Point leaned more into Far Cry. This game Neurohunter was full Deus Ex in direction and rarely leaning into anything else. It really wanted to be the next Deus Ex/System Shock. Except this one was genuinely just very mediocre and hence not an actual recommendation from me (but i would recommend boiling point) because the game can quite literally perma soft lock/hard lock you, it's just that buggy and you need to make so many saves that it might become a headache to get 'the right save' where the data or game logic wasn't corrupted at some point causing progression locks. I just wanted to take the moment to acknowledge the existence of these very obscure games that were interesting on their premise alone. This one is so under cooked that it's impossible to say that it's metacritic rating is not accurate. I've been mentioning this to people whenever they ask for games like Deus Ex in recent years. It's like an even more janky and flawed Invisible War if that were possible. But at the same time it was one of those games that was commendable for what it was at least trying to accomplish. These are the examples i can think of about games time forgot and they resemble the classics that people actually want to play in some way. It's a game that just clearly needed more dev time and it might have turned out perfectly acceptable and a decent time for people who enjoy these styles of games.
