In a custom engine where you move the sound as-is it'll have higher I/O bandwidth usage and will take up 3x the space as 8-bit audio, but on modern hardware these differences are negligible. I believe Unreal and Unity store everything as 16-bit by default, with an option to have sound in higher bit depths so it wouldn't have an effect in them.
