>fall asleep in front of pc >steam updates a dozen games and eliminates all the free disk space I had freed up >not only were a lot of games I didn't wish to update, updated>but I also can't easily regain the disk space I lost since I can't just uninstall the updates and now have to choose between uninstalling the games in their entirety or just live with the lost disk space Why the fuck do people view Steam's abhorrent management on game updates, to be in any way acceptable? Steam can even refuse to boot up a game whatsoever unless you go fucking offline, unless you update. Why is that acceptable? And the inability to revert back to older versions of games. How is that ok? Steam fucking sucks. Why is there no option to simply tell Steam to NOT update?
>>729306850>Why is there no option to simply tell Steam to NOT update?there is retard
Turn off auto update. Do you not even glance at the settings in programs you frequent?
>>729306850Name one game where an update increased the space used by any more than a nominal amount. You're also clearly too stupid to just roll back the game, as you don't know there's a way to within the console.Maybe you're just a third world liar who got VAC banned in 2023 and you're still seething about it.
>>729306850>Why is there no option to simply tell Steam to NOT update?there is but since you are the kind of retard that would fall asleep in front of their PC i'm not surprised you didn't know about it
>>729306850anon...
>>729306850Just another proof poor people are poor because they are stupid.
>>729306850>And the inability to revert back to older versions of games. How is that ok?Blame the developer for this. Steam has this functionality built in.
>>729306928>>729306973>>729307132>>729307168OP bros...
>>729306928>there is retardNo there isn't. Scheduling a preferred time is NOT the same fucking thing as simply telling Steam you do NOT wish to update.
>>729306850Liar
>>729307230You lost. Now you have to accept everyone making fun of you.
>>729306850>>steam updates a dozen games and eliminates all the free disk space I had freed uplil blud still using a 40GB HDD frfrlmao
>>729307168>Only update at game launchThat's still updating the game. There is no option to simply ignore the updates altogether.
>>729306850>make up scenario that definitely didn't happen to be mad aboutwhy is /v/ like this?
>>729307292You can't play if you don't update>buh what about singleplayersstill have to update or just go offline mode on steam
>>729307396>or just go offline modeThat shouldn't be necessary.
Steam's main sole function was to keep your games up to date. And you're surprised Steam updated your games.Zoom zooms are raped in the brain.
>>729307519I played downgraded Mafia 3 just finedidn't even have to go into offline modethen again, your whole triade is a fabbrication so
>>729306850Maybe not being poor is the solution.
>>729306850>another guerilla marketing Epic shill threadyou are a piece of trash
>>729307634>downgradedOnly select few devs allow you to downgrade the games. And it's not an option that's available by default.
Please go easy on OP it took all of his brain power to think up this shitpost. It's Christmas guys let's be a bit more forgiving today.
>>729306850I feel like the first green text is a non-sequitur.
>>729308002Its not christmas in china / india.
>>729306850Steam does have a system for reverting back to prior versions. It’s up to the developer to use it. That stops the program from automatically updating if you use it. If the dev hasn’t made those available, then Steam auto updates.
>>729308237I think it's on by default, and the depots do incremental updating with versioning.
>>729306850Why can I NOT select games to "never update"?Google Play Store let's me do that and I bet Apple as well. Why can't Steam?
>>729307042>You're also clearly too stupid to just roll back the game, as you don't know there's a way to within the console.I am. Tell me how
Reminds me of how ARK used to update its DLCs all the time (this was a VERY long time ago), and since they weren't technically tracked as part of the game disabling game updates did not stop multi-GB DLC updates from rolling through
>>729308415Why can't you just not be poor?
>>729308467https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=how+to+roll+back+games+with+the+steam+console
>>729308527What
>>729308727So you ultimately don't even know yourself. You're just repeating shit you read online
>>729309241I've done it, but you could have just searched for it and found those same directions.
>>729308002Its just a guerilla marketing shill ragging on Steam, to direct people to Epic. There's already several terrible pro-Epic shill posts this morning.
>>729307634>I played downgraded Mafia 3 just finewhy, did they patch out/censor some content or something
>>729306850>And the inability to revert back to older versions of games. How is that ok?You can do that depending on the game, so this is mostly a developer issue.
Just get an SSD and start putting your games on there. Games are too big now to fit all of them on your computer's internal memory.
>>729309650Proof of this.
>>729307396It's crazy what steamfags put up, and gladly too
>>729306850works on my gog
>>729309789You can do it with the console for most other games, unless they specifically delete old versions from the depot.
>retards still don't know the read only trickYou only have yourselves to blame if you can't even spend 10 seconds Googling this.
>>729310635That means messing around with unc ahh shit like files.
>>729307292If you care then use GOG or pirate.
>>729306850Uninstall the fucking games then you retard
>>729310845this is the only time I've found a zoomer funny
>>729310972>implying GOG has gamesInb4 you paste third world games and shit from 20 years ago. Those are also available on Steam.
>>729306850>Why the fuck do people view Steam's abhorrent management on game updates, to be in any way acceptable?Because that issue alone mainly applies to a small subsection of people who want to play a specific version of a game, as well as your very specific scenario where an update is enough to take an important portion of your hard drive, while having several games installed is fine and uninstalling/reinstalling is highly bothersome. The first being largely connected to the modding community where some mods, usually outdated but popular, may require a specific version of a game. But that is still ultimately a very small portion of games as well as a small portion of the people who play them. For short, it's convenience for the average user who don't want to manually check for updates and the notion an update is actually preferred rather than detrimental. Still, convenience is suddenly highly inconvenient when it doesn't work like you want it to.
>>729307823>>729308527But paying more money doesn't give you the option to downgrade. You'll have to pirate your games for that.
>>729309345>I've done it>You're also clearly too stupid to just roll back the game,Rollbacks only work when the devs have made it an option though. Why are you acting as if it's some broad, standard option that's simply a part of Steam?
OP has been left utterly gaped by his own thread. Embarrassing.
>>729311692It's opt-out with the console method. They only have to opt in to the beta branch method.
>>729311360retarded zoomer can't think beyond muh exclusives lmao. you really are a generation of jews. >>729311771stfu boot licking zoomer
>>729311360GOG got a lot of big releases this year. KCD2, E33, Silksong, Indiana Jones, Silent Hill...

>>729307350yep thisI dunno why people are even entertaining such obvious bait, they must be really bored.
>>729312143zoomers can't use anything but large popular platforms or they get exiled
>>729311360>Those are also available on Steam. So?
>>729312513>zoomers need games>fucking zoomers, wanting games to play>why can't they enjoy no games?>>729312143third world, third world, third world, Vulkan, third world
>>729307230you can directly tell steam to not auto update games. I had to do it for PoE when I still had an HDD and updating the game while running another game would freeze my computer
