Numerous actions taken by the characters invoke head-scratching because the logic simply isn't there, which creates a shit ouroboros of people making stupid decisions that lead to inscrutable outcomes which leads to more stupid decisions. The show simultaneously balances on viewers knowing something about Fallout yet mangles existing source material so badly it feels like deliberate disrespect. And if you dismiss all of that with "It's just meant to be a dumb show full of spectacle" then you are speaking absolutely contrary to what the show-runners themselves promised in all advertising.
