You sign in through Heroic like you would EGS. It sees your games. Download. Install. Change Proton layer as necessary

The only thing worth mentioning is what happens if you need/want the Steam Overlay (various control support). In that case you'll need to extra step, adding the Exe through Steam, and MAYBE adapt your wine prefix address, since it will be different in Heroic. From there of course you can do everything you want through Steam. At least I think so. I'm not sure how EGS features will work. GOG games get a bit fucky launched this way, for what few features there are for phoning home (stalker 2 likes to do something).

Lotta words for something I said was idiot tier, but it's cascading. If you just want to install and play, Heroic is no different than doing it through EGS.

Hate is too strong a word, I simply dislike it. Aside from the practice of paying for exclusivity deals, the store front itself is lacking a lot of QoL stuff that Steam provides. Epic has slower load times when changing pages, and combining that with no pop-up preview when you hover over a game makes looking for titles you're not initially familiar with difficult. Additionally, you cannot see how other players enjoy the game, requiring you to go to a different platform to do so. There are many other minor features that you don't consciously think about, but not having them creates a disincentive to use that storefront compared to one that does.
If he genuinely made a better store, I'd be more willing to make it. Unfortunately that won't happen because Tim has deluded himself into thinking people actually care about library consolidation. That's why he gives out these free games, in hopes that once someone's library is big enough they'll start shopping on Epic.
