Sweeney is dumb, but he's correct. E33 and the new Larian game both had AI used during their development, but neither of them have or will have the AI tag, simply because the AI use has been abstracted in a way where they can slip through that loophole. As a result, the AI tag really just doesn't say anything. A game that has the AI tag has AI in it, a game that doesn't have the AI tag may still have AI in it.

Same guy that really hates linux despite windows being the shittiest it's ever been btw
>>
>>729324995
If Steam came out and said they were not putting AI tags on games, Sweeney would come out and say Epic was going to do it.
This faggot doesn't care about your AI opinion and literally just says he is doing the opposite of whatever steam is doing.

AAA developer with a "don't judge me for using this, it's the future you fucking luddites" narrative #82394723894789234578932758934756 34873456

steamies everyone
>>
Everything Sweeney does is wrong and reactionary
>>
>>729325039
Has Timmy really done or said anything which indicates he hates it? Probably just doesn't see supporting it worth the costs.
Actually doesn't UE itself support Linux and Vulkan? It's the middleware and lazy gamedevs which make UE games Windows only.

>Sweeney is dumb,
Dude is right about literally everything.
>>
>>729325039

still much better than linux though so??
>>

>but neither of them have or will have the AI tag, simply because the AI use has been abstracted in a way where they can slip through that loophole
By Steam's own guidelines any use of AI necessitates disclosure
They don't have it because they paid Steam extra not to have it
>>
>>729324995
Remember when Epic said that PC gaming was dead and we should all move to consoles?
>>
>>729324995
Never give a single inch to luddites

Sweeney seems like the kind of person that would say this so he can sneak some evil AI powered feature into UE6 and deflect riticism with BUT EVERYONE'S DOING IT! In conclusion, always do opposite of what Timmy Tencent says.
>>
>nooo you can't just use new tools because.... YOU JUST CAN'T OK???
unemployed behavior
>>
>>729324995
Like I said when these threads first popped up, Tim was right for the wrong reasons. At least he's clarifying now and saying AI will be in everything soon so it's pointless to have as a tag.
>>
>>729327826
>windows still much better than linux
It's debatable. Linux sucks but Windows also sucks now, albeit in different ways than Linux as a desktop OS. Back in the Windows 7 days Windows was great and desktop Linux was even worse than now.
>>
>>729324995
The 'NoAI' tag will become a lot more valuable in the future.
>>
>>729328669
>It's debatable
No, it isn't.
>>
>say I don’t use AI
>use it anyway
Who’s gonna stop me?
>>
The AI disclosure thing was always doomed because it relies on developers having enough scruples (lol) to disclose honest usage of it.
>>
>>729328796
Yes I'm sure retards and Indians still love Windows and see nothing wrong with it. It's now developed by vibecoding Indians after all.
>>
>>729325039
Like you guys were any different. If I got a penny each time I've seen someone write "troonix" here, I would have enough formalwear to dress nicely 24/7

>i know my claim to fame is producing hand painted portraits, but im just going to use my camera to take a picture of you, cool? No discounts.

what he posted isn't headcanon though, the point is you could just make the argument on your own rather than parading it around with tim's dumb face attached and making it about platform wars
>>
>>729327826
No. Linux distros (other than Android ofc) don't spy on you, are more stable and even consume less energy and resources than shitdows. There's a reason many companies switched to it long before it started getting popular.

These days, almost everything runs on Linux, even most games and quite a few online ones, and several older ones that no longer run in Shit11. The only ones that don't work on Linux are a few outliers and online AAA trash that uses kernel anticheat that shouldn't exist in the first place.

Even those Shitdows-exclusive programs like Photoshop and Office have better free alternatives that won't drain your credit cards monthly.
>>
>>729328982
over a third of Win11's code is written by AI, the other two thirds by 'jeets. No wonder it's shit now.
>>
>>729329359
Did the Nvidia performance issues get fixed yet? I use CUDA so AMD GPUs are not an option. I'm referring to the serious performance issues D3D12 via vkd3d on Nvidia has. Also, even emulators which use Vulkan natively perform worse on Linux than on Windows on Nvidia cards for some reason. Literally the only thing keeping me on Windows.
>>
>>729329716
>CUDA
Kiddo, Nvidia doesn't give a shit about its customers anymore. They'll leave you and all those that use their shit to rot, and eventually go full AI, then sink when the bubble pops.
>>
>>729329876
Possibly but we're not at that point yet, meanwhile Nvidia works well enough except for these Vulkan performance issues on Linux and AI coomslop genning (much more important to me than games actually) on AMD sucks. (okay I admit I've not tried it in practice but so they say)
>>
>>729328796
You are debating it right now
>>
Then all future games can be tagged as such and all older games goes untagged. :^)
>>
>>729330154
i'm undebatably not
>>
>bro in the future AI will
>do all the work
>make all the entertainment

How exciting. The future is so bright.

i don’t take advice from people who aren’t successful
>>
>>729329359
>These days, almost everything runs on Linux

Gotta love how a Linux sperg contradicts themselves and also admits Linux's limitations when trying to justify using their shitty OS.
>>
>>729324995
>Giving customers more info is bad
Once again sweeny should kill himself. This can either help customers avoid ai slop or normalize it by going "oh. This game contained AI content? It was great and I didn't notice. Maybe it's not all bad."

As the customer, I lose nothing by getting this info.
>>
>>729324995
>Sweeney is dumb, but he's correct.
Sweeney is smart, and has never been wrong. He hasn't always conveyed his points properly though.
>>
>>729328669
Windows 11 sucks, but somehow its better than Linux since it's far more stable and combatable. You have to make immense compromises and autistic levels of troubleshooting just to use Linux.
>>
>>729324995
>I shouldn't have to disclose I made the game using UE5 because nearly all produced games use it anyways
>>
>>729331669
>annoying/gatekeepy/arrogant as shit
Every Aifag I've ever seen has been exactly the same. All the same negatives that come with being a haughty creative, just using a different "tool"
>>
>>729331808
Where do you draw the line? Final product or production? Middleware using auto completed boiler plate code? How would you even know if I e of the employees used an AI for brainstorming? It's all self reported.
It's just bullshit to placate morons.
>>
>>729332304
There is no reason not to tell people that Ai was used to make a game. Just make a good game and then the Ai stamp might as well be bragging rights about how good Ai is.
>>
>>729329803
>I use CUDA
No you don't lol
>>
>>729333334
I like to gen coomslop so yes I do.
>>
>>729325039
Windows is designed to protect the corporate software developer. Not the customer. In the mind of tech you shouldn't have rights to own software, and AIs goal is to make it so you don't even own hardware. You rent from the tech guys to use the tech, so they can jack up the prices to pay for their trillions of dollars worth of bad equity.
