Mass Effect 1&2 are still worth playing. The series is the representation of a dream that had been forming since the earliest days of space opera: the cool human male and his alien friends (and gf) adventuring throughout the galaxy. The games could often be crude and inarticulate but I will never fault what they tried to accomplish. In the many years since ME3 shat the bed nobody else has even tried, except maybe Rogue Trader.
