Dota Underworld was also abandoned... Makes me weary of getting into new online Valve games, if it flops at first they might just abandon the game
TF2 is also abandoned and that was successful at one point. I hear devs that work in TF2 at Valve at bullied and called cucks by the other devs
>>
>>729331534
>fumbled just buing autochess from the south korean niggers
>their shit version fumbled TWICE
>artifact abandoned, then they promised some sort of little support just to rugpull again KEK
bruno carlucci is an incompetent argensimian nigger who is completely useless and worthless and only landed a job at valve out of sheer luck and dick sucking capability
>>
Valve never misses…at lying.

Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
>>

Who's that? I haven't been kept up with the game world news in years
>>
something something beta invites
>>

I was about to ask for the pasta.
Also remember when the twitch section for artifact got swarmed with porn, including a lot of beast porn?
>>
>>729331929
the retard nigger responsible for dota underlord and artifact failures, just a worthless south american faggot who offered his bussy at valve HQ and landed a job despite only having proven failures in his track record
>>
half-life 2 episode one was actually hot garbage. i just replayed thru every halflife except for the ps1 coop version and hl2ep1 is easily the most dogshit out of all of them. go watch or play it right now, you'll quickly see its just a shadow/darkness tech demo while alyx flirts poorly with you which is a thousand percent why it passed the smell test originally with gamecels im sure
>>
i liked artifact.... :/
>>
>>729331286
What good has valve done for decades? Cs2 is abysmal and inferior to cs:go in every possible aspect excluding graphics.
>>
>>729331534
This is why I don't get the insane optimism some people have for Deadlock... sure they spent a lot more resources and years making the game but they just love working on something and then just fucking drop it out of the blue anyway
>>
>>729332139
Don't they have a libertard philosophy there on how to work on projects? Just reaping the fruits of their philosophical failures
>>
>>729332139
Dota 2, that was uuuh... 2012? and modern dota 2 is garbae (post 7.00 update and by 6.88+ it was already showing signs of shit)
>>
>>729331534
>was successful at one point
it still fucking is
>>729332242
it's just a fun game, they'll probably drop it if it doesn't makes a quadrillion dollars but i don't care it's not like i'll play it forever

So when is episode 3?

Honestly their store is pretty good (unless it's Christmas lol).

because no valve dev wanted to work on it
thats why at first they wanted to buy the auto chess people (who said no and accepted a deal with timmy tencent) and later they outsourced devs to do it (like sweet baby inc)
>>
>>729332432
They make money but don't expand easily on new areas because their devs just want to keep managing Steam (the strong project) and never take a chance on new projects like new games or whatever
>>
>>729333024
They literally making Deadlock right now.

TF2 was never as big of a success as valve wanted, they abandoned TF2 once their attempt at turning TF2 into a professional e-sport with a skins like CS failed.
Valve can't make good shit anymore
>>
>>729331286
>>729333203
I honestly would have loved for artifact to succeed, but the moment valve can't milk a game's playerbase for all they are worth they quickly lose interest and leave games on life support. They no longer have love for video games, it's all just about making monstrous amounts of money
>>
>>729334196
>the moment valve can't milk a game's playerbase for all they are worth they quickly lose interest
they never even released new card sets for us to buy

Left 4 Dead and tf2 were wildly successful but they were simply 'complete experiences' and couldn't be monetized like nft-Strike could.

Considering the landscape of card games right now, this game probably could have quietly trucked on to eventually be the best and most popular one through sheer magnitude of Valve support.

Hearthstone is a shadow of its former self and Bazaar is some troonslop game played by Kripp and no one else.
>>
>>729331286
valve games are easy as shit desu based on the singleplayer ones. save scumming literally ruins all difficulty.

They guy who invented auto chess was never going to sell to a non Chinese studio. But that whole genre burned out, so its not like valve could have done much.
Artifact on the other hand was a complete misstep on their part given how absurdly popular pokemon tcg and mtg are right now.
>>
>>729331286
They should just stop with the new multiplayer games to sell loot boxes with but greed is just too good.
>>
>>729340475
Arena bombed. Online card games are pretty much dead in the water or back to its niche hole. The post-Hearthstone boom of PVP card games is over.
>>
>>729334994
>cites YGO and Hearthstone in an ironic way
You actually have dogshit tastes so you're right on the money on that one.
>>
Both Artifacts are still the most unique way to actually transport a game of DotA into a PVP card game. It's the most faithful cross-genre adaptation in that manner.
>>
>>729340676
Arena only looks bad when compared to MTG as a whole. 6.7k on steam is okay when you consider mobile and standalone client users also aren't tracked in that.
I'm not saying it could pull tf2/dota numbers, but card games are low profit for even lower effort when done properly.

the dev team for deadlock cares enough to be working on christmas eve and it has infinitely more appeal than underlords or artifact
>>
>>729341078
What really sunk it was the open beta being like 5 days long. There was no way to get meaningful feedback in that time period. Otherwise they would have known the monetization was fucked much quicker.

The worst addition to the roster that singlehandedly killed the vibe of the game.

I still hate Valve for normalizing 3rd party software simply to run completely separate games. And then PC newfags will "praise GabeN".

At least the pirates are being honest.

They made too many obvious blunders, which surprises me from Valve.
1: They made the game too complicated. Most normies had no idea what was happening
2: They made the games mechanics and cards mostly rely on RNG. This is just awful by design.
3: They made the game a paid game not free to play. This is the most baffling error to me. Their main rival at the time was f2p.
4: They made every single useful or overpowered card only available in paid packs or market. There was no daily quests or currency to grind to earn them yourself like rival games.
Basically, Valve thought they could hire the creator of MTG and a bunch of smart people and just force their way into the market of online card gaming, but they completely fucked up and embarrassed themselves.
They said they would fix it all but then quietly pulled the rug on anyone who supported the game.
I'm surprised it was a quiet death and there wasn't more backlash.
Their only other game since was a safe prequel VR game.
I think the people hired at Valve can't make games anymore. They just do "projects" and maintain steam, which is the real cashcow of taking 30% of every sale from other developers.

it passed for me cause i was like 14 when i played it and didnt give a shit. i mean back then it looked cool had good graphics and the physics were neat. but beyond that i didnt care about the story or characters. around 27 or so i played through halflife one and beat it. i can say it was much more fun and interesting than 2. the first time i played half life was on the ps2 at a friends house and i dont remember too much about it. i didnt care much about it.
