There was a monoculture where everyone had a baseline grasp of what WoW was, what it was about, some of the memes and so on. I made friends for life all over the world back then though WoW. It was an age of SOVL. It can’t be understated enough just how much damage Discord has done to the social aspect of gaming now that everyone is firmly locked into their little hugbox bubbles.
