This is one interesting novelty, but there's more the game has going for it. Having the entire game world merged together isn't one of them, no. It wasn't the point. This is a game that excels in atmosphere, that feeling of isolation, and a highly segmented map is part of that.

However later on when I fought the boss in volt forge, and it had the barrier on it that moved about I was beginning to get disappointed, that one reminded me of the one on the space station at the start of Prime 1. The lava area, the snow area, the fact there was a research facility there, I couldn't shake the notion it felt like a reskin. I expected more out of the game, when they had the gull to show off the motorbike and the desert, we just don't get to do much with the seeming risks they were taking, and it's like what're we doing here fellas.
