It always feels like video games as a medium never reaches it's full potential or even close all there is is slop to shut your mouth and be happy with.
I think you should just try some game outside Nintendo. Better if it was made before 2020

I think most games lack any substance to make it a meaningful experience. It's nowhere near the level of a classic lit novel, but a few games do manage to create worlds/gameplay that feel significant in some way.
Maybe we're just not ready for good shit yet.
