The last good FF game before it all went to hell. It is from y2k.

No, it's from 2001.

Next FF should just copy FFX's battle system but add some new gimmicks and replace random encounters with field encounters.

like QTE to dodge and do bigger attacks?

No, FF should avoid timed hits bullshit, stay pure.
FFVIII was the only one to do that (with Squall's attacks) and it was pretty non-consequential.

Sakaguchi left and it all turned to shit, looks like the man was too important for this series. Horii's still working on Dragon Quest and that series didn't have a single bad game.

Why modern audiences cant cope with random encounters? I for one like it for a simple reason. If the balance is good, the game is made in a way where just walking from point A to B makes you level accordingly to the content.
In games where you can choose who to fight and when, you never know for sure if you are overleveling or under.
Ffx for example, if you explore every path inside a dungeon for all chests and such, you never need to grind for doing the main story. Because exploration gives you randomly just the right amount of encounters to keep you level up accordingly.
Meanwhile when im playing trails remake for instance, I have to guess how much combat I need to do to be at the right level
