As a fan of both series I was let down by the battle royale approach since that works against the strengths of both series. I feel like on some level they were probably trying to make the BowsEgg lightning strike twice. Also Yugi was going to win no matter what. Holactie and Spells/Traps were just too OP.But holy shit they nerfed the absolute hell out of Ash's Pokemon to drag out the fight. They pulled Dark Hole Dragon/Glow Neos scaling out of their asses because if they had said "Yeah Ash negdiffs everything but the Egyptian Gods" then YGO fans would have lost their fucking shit.
>>729347769I really don't know how they would have done the fight otherwise. The pokemon anime has never respected the turn based formula, and anytime yugi shows up in other IPs he gets to ignore the turn based restriction and just play as a summoner.
