Something that all the shipping discussion has made me think about is that, if any romance is actually present in the game, it has to have a purpose besides just being fan service or just a side plot, it must be a device to move to story forwards. For example, it is possible that the game will feature a romance between Susie and Noelle, but why exactly would it do such a thing?Personally, I think it's simply a setup to create conflict later on. One theory that I think might be true is that the prophecy is trying to be changed, originally, the second hero was gonna be Noelle, with the Girl being Susie, and the whole plan of Carol, Kris, and who knows who else, is to switch them around, with Susie taking on the role of the second hero, and Noelle that of the Girl, and they are doing so because the second hero(and maybe the other heroes too to an extent) suffer an undesirable outcome at the end of the story, and, specifically, perhaps they even meet this undesirable outcome at the hands of the Girl. Now, if we assume this is true, Noelle and Susie's romance actually has some plot relevance, them being very close to each other will eventually cause conflict once the end approaches and Noelle realizes what fate is gonna befall Susie, and she will try to avoid this, which goes hand in hand with the efforts of Ralsei and Susie to change the outcome of the prophecy and reach a happier ending. I think if Noelle and Susie really are gonna be in a romance, it's going to be because it actually helps the plot, like in the situation I've described here.Continued in the next post.
