hitscan players are using crutches
real men use this and learn2predict
>>
>>729349898
it's still really hard to hit headshots with hitscan as sniper. marksman you can just spam at chokepoints.
>>
>>729349898
the definition of a crutch is an easier to use weapon that ultimately holds someone of a higher skill level back
the stock rifle is both easier to use and stronger
>>
>>729349898
This weapon is pure looney toons comedy, with the wailing screams and pinning them to the ceiling. One of the only weapons to ever make me laugh my ass off just using it
>>
He's playing an entirely different game than all other classes.
>>
Is there any shooter that's had the balls to just let snipers be shit

>his counter is meant to be the spy
>it will take the spy about a minute to walk to the other side of the map for a backstab, depending on the distance
>in that time, the sniper has already headshot multiple of the spy's teammates
>the spy can still fuck up or get unlucky
>even if the sniper dies, he'll be back in 15 seconds
The best counter to a sniper is another sniper. And if that's the case, just disable sniper in the server settings.
>>
>>729353127
Same can be said for spy and engineer.
>>
>>729354667
No, the same cannot be said for spy and engineer.
>>
>>729354667
Those two at least have to get up close.
Sniper is playing on Dustbowl but still killing people in Badlands.
>>
>>729354805
>engineer
>getting close
he's most effective when right outside the front lines behind a corner or something because the majority of his buildings are supportive and the sentry grinds games to a halt if they're not broken, especially if there are multiple of them
>>
>>729354772
Explain yourself, how is engineer any less different to the combat classes than sniper?
>>
>>729355039
He needs to set up his shop and turrets don't deal 150 damage the second you show your head. Also they have shorter range.
Maybe first you need to explain yourself how the same can be said for spy and engie.
>>
>>729354990
>>getting close
His turret has a maximum effective range, unless you're using the wrangler (which few do).
A sniper can destroy a sentry (and the engineer), but an engineer can't fight a sniper.
>>
>>729355097
They all are made specifically to avoid direct combat.
Engineer building and maintaining his buildings (one of which exists solely to do the fighting for him) instead of being in harm's way like every combat class unless everything's gone to shit and it's a last resort, same as sniper.
Spy is meant to be a sneaky backstabber that only fights when it's against someone who's easy to kill or if everything's gone to shit and it's a last resort, same as sniper.
>>
>>729355454
Engineer literally is constantly in harm's way since his sentry is a huge explosive magnet and he has to stay close to enemies otherwise the sentry literally doesn't fire
>>
>>729355265
>A sniper can destroy a sentry (and the engineer), but an engineer can't fight a sniper.
That doesn't mean he's playing a different game, it just means his strengths are different
A sniper can't shoot you from two places at once, but an engineer can.
>>
>>729355454
>They all are made specifically to avoid direct combat.
So is medic, by standing behind meatshields. He still plays the same game, sniper does not.
>>
>>729355454
>Spy is meant to be a sneaky backstabber that only fights when it's against someone who's easy to kill or if everything's gone to shit and it's a last resort, same as sniper.
Unlike Sniper, he does this by navigating through the battlefield with bullets flying everywhere and Pyros waving their flamethrowers in every direction and everyone leaping for him like deranged chimpanzees the second his cloak drops. Sniper gets to do it all from behind enemy lines completely safe with multiple get out of jail free cards to cover for even his supposed weaknesses
>>
>>729355574
>by standing behind meatshields.
Unless he's targeted which he always is
>>
>>729350013
Spamming chokepoints oh you mean like every projectile in the game?
>>
>>729355681
>Unless he's targeted which he always is
That's part of playing the game like every other class does, except sniper.
>>
>>729355571
A sniper can do an instakill from across the map.
Name one other class that can do that.
>>
>>729355784
Demoman
>>
>>729355797
His range isn't far enough, even with charged shots. A sniper has no bullet drop, no damage falloff, and infinite range.
And if you argue stickyjumping, then that's not him being across the map, is it?
>>
>>729355765
>Snipers aren't targeted
What fucking dogshit teammates do you play with that they don't at least try to pressure snipers
>>
>>729355797

lmao
>>
>>729355873
>ah yes, let me just ignore 11 other people to get this one shitter right outside his spawn, heh heh
>>
>>729349898
I could literally talk for hours about all the subtleties of this fucking thing.
>>
>>729355828
I meant traps, that's the instakill
>>
>>729355921
>ah yes, let me just ignore 11 other people to turn around in the middle of a fight, heh heh
>>
>>729355945
The average demoman isn't going to set a cross-map stickytrap and detonate it properly.
The average sniper has a scope on their gun.
>>
>>729355945
Oh, so demo has to get close enough to the spot he wants to trap, lay his stickies and then back the fuck away to fulfill the criteria of
>A sniper can do an instakill from across the map.
You're reaching hard.
>>
>>729356008
You've never set up charged traps?
That shit's great and hilarious

You have eyes, hell with the Scottish Resistance you can set up whole god damned minefields
>>
>>729356053
You're either talking about a kritz trap, or you're just an idiot. And as the other anon said, in order to """match""" the sniper, a demo has to
>stickyjump across the map
>lay the trap
>run back (he can't stickyjump back unless he's using the Scottish Resistance)
>survive the run back
>stay in an open area to see the trap (this exposes him to the line of sight of a sniper)
>detonate it once
all for a single kill.
>>
>>729356153
It's an disingenuous retard, don't waste your keyboard.
>hyuk hyuk, soldier can also kill across the whole map with a random stray crit hrup drip
>>
>>729356123
The SR is the least-used Demo secondary in the game for a reason.
You're now having to bring up genuinely terrible strategies to try and say that Demoman can get a single cross-map kill like a sniper can every second.
>>
>>729356208
>for a reason.
the reason being sticky spam, I know.
>>
Demoman is more dangerous than sniper, but at least there is some kind of hypothetical counterplay possible. For sniper it's not that he's "too strong" it's just that for most classes you can't do anything except avoid him seeing you which just isn't fun. It's more of a map issue than a class issue though desu.
>>
>>729356317
>it's not that he's "too strong" it's just that for most classes you can't do anything except avoid him seeing you
I mean, "150-450 damage just for being seen" is pretty strong.
Sentries have a half-second delay before snapping to a target for a reason. Imagine if sentries immediately shot targets, and also had infinite range. People would demand that sentries get deleted, too.

>It's more of a map issue
Not really. As maps have gotten better, bigger and more open it only made sniper stronger.
It's not a map issue, it's a #removesniper issue
>>
>>729356471
but that IS a map issue
>>
>>729356153
And this is why I've never understood how to use stickybombs effectively
>>
>>729356505
No, 8 out of 9 classes don't have any issues on upward and multitude of other open maps.
>>
>>729356471
Seems like a fair line of sight, mate
>>
>>729356416
He is one of the strongest classes due to the high skill ceiling, but people being really skilled at sniper isn't the issue.
>>
>>729356471
>It's not a map issue
>Exactly describes an issue with map
what the fuck dude..
>>
>>729356582
It kinda is. When they were making TF2 they didn't factor in sniper mains with thousands and thousands of hours on sniper alone.
>>
>>729356552
except spy
spy's fucked by open areas
>>
>>729356631
How?
>>
>>729356629
Lol they couldn't fathom someone being really good at their game? Yeah right
>>
>>729356671
more angles to get looked at
playing spy on harvest is terrible if you try doing anything outdoors
>>
>>729356728
That's crazy and not true even in the slightest
>>
>>729356505
If every other class works on that map, then the issue is Sniper himself.
>>
>>729356728
>more angles to get looked at
You see more- you see where enemies are, whether they're distracted by something or no, where they are going, where they're shootng. It's pretty impossible to bump into an enemy in a wide area unless you're bad.
>>
>>729349695
Gaming wasn't as sweaty when TF2 came out.
The game was designed for 12v12 chaos. It was expected that hitting headshots had some level of difficulty.
Nowadays 80% of the player base of every FPS treats it like a job and push every weapon to its theoretical limit, so yes, in modern context the automatic 150 damage laser is overpowered.
>>
The problem is that sniper's skill ceiling is almost entirely mechanical-aiming meaning it has a hard cap with little to no strategy or dodging
>>
>>729349695
I agree
