There is no transitional era, the legendaries were always deific in nature, being depicted in temple murals and worshiped as being that control aspects of the world.
There is no soul era/transition era divide, the franchise progressed linearly and reached its logical conclusion with platinum (THE highest point of the franchise).
The problem came when the cycle was concluded and gamefreak didn't know where to go, so they just tried to relaunch gen 1. The designs were shittier, the gimmicks retarded, and it was painfully obvious that gen 5 was a low effort gen 1 remake.
But it sold bigly, so gamefreak kept going, release on release they push their luck, making the games with less and less effort, and people keep buying.
Also,

Only in Gen3, and it was added back in Gen4 and made pivotal some evolutions.
A retard genwunner made this image, who just remembers the first two gens more fondly because they were kids at the time.

I concede that gen 5 has a few terrible pokemon, but I still had a lot of fun with it.
Here's my ranking of the most I had with each gen:

5==1 > 2 > 4 >>> 3

For whatever reason, gen 3 was so passable I barely remember any of it.
I don't care for any gen past 5 though.
