Am I blind or did 3D platformers just die on PC? I thought A Hat in Time would spring forth an era of 3D platformers for PC but nothing happened. As a side note, Ocarina of Time is one of the most well-regarded games of all time (heh), yet no one even ATTEMPTED to make an indie clone.
my eyes are shit. whenever a doctor checks my vision I always go through it perfectly, but in reality my depth perception is fucked and i cant gauge distances like that. so for me 3d platforming is an incredibly clunky genre since i can NEVER tell whethernill make a jump or not
>>729359669>did 3D platformers just die on PC? no you are just a clueless faggot. see megabonk, a massively popular 3d platformer that came out recently.>yet no one even ATTEMPTED to make an indie clone.yeah just make an indie clone of a AAA game/thread
>>729359669Platformers are lame and boring games for preteen kids.
>>729359837>megabonk>3d platformerI thought the IQ test captcha filtered out retards like you. >yeah just make an indie clone of a AAA gameModern game engines allow small indie teams to easily make the same games that AAA companies made 30 years ago.
I finally played A Hat In Time and i have been tricked again by you fags. Its not really that good a 3d platformer, by the second level, you were doing some dumb murder mystery parody thing, and by the third you were doing some dumb horror game thing. There is way too much not platforming so far, and here everyone waa saying it rivals Mario 64. Is that Yooka Layle remaster any better? Like an actual platformer, and no i dont mean a 3d collectathon, mario 64 was not really a collectathon.
>>729359957Same honestly. I was hoping AHIT was like Rogue Legacy; a mediocre, yet very popular game that revitalized the genre and brought out much better games in the process.
>>729359669There are a couple janky ones like Only Up and that clone of Only Up that I forgot the name of. Part of the reason may just be that Unity and UE5, the two most widely available game engine just so happens to be terrible at making good platforming mechanics. And since you pretty much need an in-house engine to make 3D platformers satisfying, the gate is kept much tighter.

>>729359807I'm very sorry you suffer from that, anon. What is your favorite genre? I love old Zelda style action adventure, exploration and RPGs.
>>729359926>Modern game engines allow small indie teams to easily make the same games that AAA companies made 30 years ago.holy fuck you're retarded
>>729359669Rape
>>729359669OOT aged like milk, though. The reason people like the game is because of its historical significance in gaming. It's obvious still fine and not terrible to play, but if it were released today it would probably stay obscure and amass a small cult following at most.I admit there are some ageless elements, like the memorable music and some of the designs and aesthetics. The game knew how to build an atmosphere. Majora's Mask is better in that regard, though, and its story would have definitely created a cult following.
>>729359807If you can't gauge distance in a 3D platformer it's a brain problem and not an eye problem, the screen is a 2D plane so there's no depth to perceive.
They're not blowing up but I feel like pseudoregalia has made them somewhat come back, the game was nice and I've yet to play metro gravity but it seems nice too.
>>729359669Dark Souls is the OoT cloneLock-on targeting, animation-locked swings, directional dodges
>>729359957Its the kind of game that desperately asks for a sequel to actually expand on everything the first game set, but for whatever reason they just refuse to make one. I dont get the point of the updates that add virtually nothing that really improves the game that are still happening to this day
>>729360167holy fucking kino
>>729361080I see this comparison a lot, and meh.Maybe I am biased, because I love Majora's Mask, but Dark Souls doesn't have nearly as much platforming.
