It's just that the "magazine tube" is redundant because you can't store more shells than there are in the detachable mag.

i think the combat shotgun is kind of a fun design, i don't even mind the "assault rifle" in fo4 (even though it is plainly a machine gun)

the """combat rifle""" that's just a modified combat shotgun design in fo4 genuinely offends me. maybe the most sauceless rifle ever featured in a videogame and even worse because it occupies the "higher damage per shot auto rifle" niche which I typically like

Still doesn't make any sense, expanding hot gasses right into the magazine tube sounds like a good way to cook off your ammo.
