>We tried so hard to make it happen, but kraid was completely impossible to make in metroid prime

Have retro studios programmers and engine devs just always been shit? Theres plenty of games on the ps2 that are more technically impressive than any prime game. Just to name one, kingdom hearts has giant monster boss fights (like kraid) and seems to be able to handle more enemys per room, as well as larger rooms than anything in the prime games. I really wonder about the technical stuff and why so many things were "impossible" for retros programmers. Is it just as simple as japanese work ethic? We just work less hours here, and that adds up fast, thats my theory as to why.

It's hard to say this without underestimating your knowledge on the subject but I strongly encourage you to study basic computer science and then delve into some of the challenges that programmers faced on the consoles in question. Even very simple things can become challenging depending on architecture, and usually it's a question of keeping things "inexpensive" in terms of time spent processing. (Very obviously, not in terms of market price.)

I really think more gaming enthusiasts should try to learn the basics so they have a stronger appreciation for older games. I'm sure most people think they need some kind of background in computer science to understand it, they don't. Anyone should be able to grasp it even if it takes some effort to understand at first. When you know how strict some of the challenges were to keep the simulation functioning at a proper framerate while delivering some math intensive effects visually, those things WILL appear more beautiful to the educated eye.

nah, this is just autistic developers not wanting to be on TV that are being forced to hyperbole their development experience for the gamer cattle and you faggots swallow it like warm jizz.

Hardware eccentricities, load-bearing spaghetti code and lack of documentation and best practices for developing for the console.

Can i fight kraid in metroid prime?
>>

Even a technical marvel like Kingdom Hearts has never in 20 years managed to let you fight Kraid, you're putting forth an impossiblity and then getting pissy that the devs didn't manage it

Is he even saying it was impossible from a programming perspective, or that they couldn't figure out how to make it actually fun with primes framework?

This will come as something of a shock but different game engines handle things differently
Shadow of the Colossus would not have been able to make many elements of Metroid Prime work either

Nintendo consoles weren't always 2 gens behind like the shitch. If PS2 could do it, GC could.do it better.

i don't know, i don't play this crap. i only scout threads for tech illiterate gaymer anons to school.

Wait what's this referring to? Been a while since I played Prime 2.
