Asus can't produce rame retard.
a fab will take 5 years. they would just be licensing it anyways. Samsung,sk hynix and crucial all make ram ships they sell ram chips to g.skill, patriot etc and probably now asus. they then have to sort all these chips and bin them to make timings. NOTHING CHANGED.
Reason crucial was good is cause they fab all the chips they don't need to bin them cause they already did in manufacturing and then they made ram. Asus is just gonna buy ddr5 chips, and put them on pcb and make ram for your computer, this still gotta get the supplies from everyone else, bin the chips to check timings etc.

>the problem is not enough chips not not enough ram sticks retard.
>>
>>729364643
Different anon here
ASUS is an OEM, they don't even do their own assembly for most of their products, they use companies like Pegatron and an entire myriad of Chinese manufacturers. They do not own a building capable of being retrofit to serve as a 10nm DRAM fab.

I feel like the industry is being hamstrung by its own priorities, even if those priorities are going to undermine their long-term sustainability.

I'm pretty sure all the DRAM and even DIMM OEMs can see that this AI trend is not going to be sustainable long-term. I seriously doubt anyone even in the higher echelons of these businesses are genuinely thinking "this golden era is going to LAST FOREVER, we don't need a consumer sector anymore, put all resources towards enterprise."

The problem is that to maintain their market value they have to act in accordance with where the market is going. I'm genuinely shocked that Crucial actually opted to exit the consumer market instead of just offering consumer DIMM modules for outrageous prices. Because once this passes over (since even if AI takes off like the major players are trying to make a thing those data centers will eventually be built up and the demand will subside - the whole point of AI and cloud computing is to pare down the amount of resources needed to do the same level of productivity that was possible with more physical hardware so constantly adding more servers to do this kind of thing renders the objective moot). The AI bubble bursting or going long makes no difference to the suppliers because either way they're going to have to reevaluate where the profits are coming in from down the line. But at the moment they're stuck bending to the whim of the market's direction and that means all RAM production resources are being pushed in one direction at the expense of any other segment.
>>
>>729367370
Silicon isn't just sand (which still comes inany different varieties).
What do you think the rare earths debacle is about.
It's about supply chains, economies of scale, and non-silicon minerals.

Not even joking.
US is borrowing money to give OpenAI to give to nvidia to build nvidia factories and mega AI datacenters in Israel.
It's wealth transfer from the American taxpayer straight into Israeli infrastructure.

The market can only solve problems itself if the market remains free. Which isn't the case here. Big corpo pulled up the ladder through lobbying for regulatory bullshit to make sure no one else can threaten their market position.
ASUS might be able to penetrate into the RAM business due to them already having a foot in the door through other hardware adventures but if you - as a new start up - wanna get into manifacturing - thats a near impossible task.

So the problem isn't capitalism. Capitalism would solve that issue. The problem is that the government has become so immensely powerful and overreaching that bad actors abuse that power to build and maintain monopoly positions.
>we need more regulations
Is exactly what those companies wanna hear. Have you ever seen Google or Facebook protest against things like the modern surveillance and compliance acts? Acts which directly limit the way companies can operate? Of course you didn't because those regulations fuck over their competitors first and foremost - they lobby for them. Cause it makes sure no one else can catch up. A billion dollar company can easily afford to follow strict regulatory control but your new startup social media/email firm can't

ASUS has no RAM factories
ASUS has no RAM factory employees
Since ASUS is a "premium" brand any RAM stick they produce will come at a premium, completely defeating cheap/cheaper RAM
The double gook RAM factories will ensure ASUS gets kicked out of the monopoly
The only way ASUS can succeed is if the Taiwanese government wants to have their own TSMC in the RAM space

The supply issue is manufactured by RAM manufacturers themselves under the guise of 'we don't want to make a bunch and have it not sell' when it reality they want artificial scarcity so they can bloat the prices and keeping making tons of money same as GPU's during covid.

It's basically a stranglehold on the market to maximize profits for shareholders. Kikes is the answer.

Ironically "real communism" exists within capitalism as well. I've always loved David Graeber's example
>two contractors on a job site. One says to the other "pass me the hammer". The other one says "what's in it for me?"

If you actually look at corporate America it's just a bunch of little USSRs, where on the ground level workers are collaborating on the basis of need and ability to accomplish a common goal, and that's supervised by a bureaucracy that nobody really likes because it just siphons off productivity to prop up its own bloated worthless existence.

People collaborate for mutual benefit. Whether that looks like sharing or exchange (or something in between) is a function of the level of trust between them. Any place people are interacting without the supervision of a power structure you will see both exchange and sharing in varying amounts. No system is ever exclusively one or the other. The real line is between collaboration for mutual benefit (in any form it takes) and structures of hierarchical domination.

Have you ever had a fucking job? You don't haggle with your coworkers about how tasks are going to be divided up. Nobody is brokering
>I'll give you 2.5 hours of my paid annual leave if you take on this project instead
You just work to do the fucking work. If I get ahead, I come over and help you with your work when you're behind. I do this because I know that one day the tables will be turned and you'll do that for me. In pursuit of a common goal, we each give according to our ability and take according to our need. Nobody thinks this is strange. Even in capitalism, where ostensibly the most efficient way of achieving something is negotiating over price to maximally allocate resources, ON THE JOB SITE nobody is negotiating with one another. They're just working together.
>>
>>729363619
This isn't the market. This is the actual manufacturers, gatekeeping the products allocation.
During the pandemic there was heavy demands for electronics bcause of lockdown, work from home etc.
Chips manufacturer couldn't keep up, because even in normal days they're producing at near max capacity. During the pandemic, production is lower or almost halted because workforce is suddenly halved because of protocols.

Now production and "supply" is normal, but they're focusing allocation for industrial corporates. Data Centers, firms etc. Big tech companies that buys in the boat load for their AI supercomputers and such. Even smaller production studios, workstations etc that buys in yuge bulk. The public masses, the normies, the small individuals are forgotten.

We're getting close to the endtimes and shit. Opening up towards transhumanism and transcendence. Didn't Trump just signed Genesis Project or something? Using AI to drive and accelerate Science and Technology progress, hoping to find a breakthrough in the next decade or something.

Think about it. Grok's Collosus has 200,000 top end GPUs, with 200 petabytes memory bandwidth, costing 3-7 billions USD. Now how much more and bigger would the official national supercomputer/s would be, or all of them combined. Foreign nations wouldn't to lose out, think of what China would do with their own shit. This is where the supply has gone to, the market. It's catering for the BIG WHALE to be utilized in AI research. It's BIG MONEY.

Why would they focus on top end consumer GPU memory chips where only few end consumers could afford it, let alone mid range, low end shit? While national tech firms and private corpos are buying $20,000 GPU by the hundreds and thousands, each?

The problem is the political system not being able to deal with this level of corruption.
You want your government to be just strong enough to keep the market free but you don't want it to be too powerful cause otherwise corpos will feel the desire to highjack that government resulting into the end of the free market.
Checks and balances exist for a reason - what we have seen since the 1920s is massive government overreach.
There used to be a time where anti-monopoly agencies actually did their jobs and destroyed corpos before they could reach a level of wealth and influence that could threaten the very system. But in case of the US it was the democrats who allowed those big powerful industry players to highjack the system.

Did you never wonder why all those big corporate media tend to be so left leaning? Why are billionaire owned big newspapers and TV stations constantly criticizing capitalism and openly endorsing the socialist welfare state? Doesn't that seem kinda weird?

It's ain't really all that surprising if you look at the effects of big government and socialist policies. Increasing the minimum wage for example is something they constantly shill. This seems pretty anti-billionaire right? Except it isn't. Billionaires love the minimum wage and openly promote campaigns which demand an increase. Because they themselves are mostly uneffected by it. Those big players barely employ people who would fall under the minimum wage - either because they are too qualified or because they outsource/use visa-labour which do not fall under minimum wage policies. But who does suffer under the minimum wage increases? Small business and growing mid-sized companies - those who could potentially compete with the billionaires.
Similar deal with government funded housing/food stamps and other types of welfare. Why can low paying jobs exist in the first place? Because the government is jumping in and supporting those low income earners with tax payer money.
>>
>>729363619
>why cant market solve a simple supply issue
because the interests of the market are diametrically opposed to those of the consumers:
>businesses want money
>consumers DON'T want to spend money
also
>consumers want their needs to be fulfilled
>businesses DON'T want solve the customer's needs (a happy customer has no need to keep buying)
and
>solving customers' problems takes money
>businesses DON'T want to spend money
tl;dr businesses exist solely to make money. it's against businesses' interests to help people. the worse their junk is, the better, since you'll have to buy more
>>
>>729376254
If you as a business haven't produced anything of value that anyone on the market wants to actually use (and it hasn't), and your only source of funds is investments and government subsidy, yes, you are a failed business.
Even banks manage people's finances for them and frequently work in real estate.
>>
>>729366683
Now what was the African population of the USSR?
>>
>>729376558

And what would people do without welfare state? They would certainly not work those low paying jobs because they could not support their family with that salary. So employers would be forced to raise the payouts to make up for the lack of government welfare.
The biggest benefectors of the welfare state are not the people - it's the corporations - because the tax payer ends up footing the bill that the business owners would have to pay otherwise. Which is slowly eroding the middle class with the constantly increasing welfare expands - which means even more people get pushed into welfare - all while less money is being paid out in taxes. You end up in the situation where we currently find ourselves in. And there is only one logical outcome for this - tech corpo feudalism - and they will shill this through ideas like UBI. Which will with the constantly increasing surveillance just end up making everyone a serf.

the market is working EXACTLY as intended
RAM is very cheap to make, incredibly cheap even. it's not a supply issue.

RAM manufacturer's collude with each other to keep the prices high by keeping supply low for maximum profit. this is not an opinion, this is not a conspiracy.
there are multiple lawsuits about this, but its just the cost of doing business, it doesn't stop them because it's more profitable to get sued AND still keep colluding to keep prices high

only recently have they spiked like never before BECAUSE they kept the supply low on purpose for so long and now the demand is just astronomically higher than ever before
>>

and increase in price along with everything else

They're buying the raw silicon wafers. And those aren't being processed into consumer RAM

Why don't we game on DDR4 meanwhile?

OH NO NO NO NO MICRON/SAMSUNG/HYNIX SISTERS OUR PRICE FIXING SCHEME???
>>
>>729363508
Even so we need clearly need more companies to enter RAM production longterm, because this is literally the 3rd time (to my knowledge, probably more) the same big 3 got caught trying to collude on supply and prices rather than compete and undercut each other.

The modern state represents those who have the most power which are Giant Mega Corporations. Then their servants politicians use culture war slop to keep us fighting with each other while they steal our hard earned money to buy all the RAM, make utilities more expensive in order to build our final prison.

>RAM manufacturer's collude with each other to keep the prices high by keeping supply low for maximum profit.
that's just the free market at work. the manufacturers are free to do what they want
>>
>>729376558
Where exactly do you see the market not being open enough for a new ram manufacturers?
Anyone who has the know how, money and wants to take the risk can enter that market.

these issues are normally solved by china.
but the west doesn't want powerful tech to be made there.

>supply issue
the government backed ultracorp that's the entirety of the US GDP growth bought up 40% of the world's RAM supply and made deals with the RAM manufacturers to keep selling them RAM.

When this AI bubble finally collapses and all these massive datacenter plans go up in smoke, there will be so much cheap RAM and GPUs. It's gonna be great.

Market capitalism would solve it by sending all our good shit to China to solve the shortages. Obviously that's retarded if you care about national security, and your own country's economic advantageous prospects.

you would notice the difference after a single post, because double entering on reddit doesnt look the same on 4chan as it does on reddit. the only way to go to the very next line on reddit is to type enough so that it continues onto the next line, at least before it used to work that way or if the person forces the old layout of reddit
new reddit's current format supports single enter for a new line, which is more like 4chan's text entry

For me it's because women cheat more than men and cuckqueaning is so easy to avoid as a woman (put out more, actually cook and clean) but they refuse to do better until it's too late or they get slapped in the face

>why cant market solve a simple supply issue
It isn't a supply issue, it's a supply allocation issue.
a. It is more profitable to sell RAM to IA scams than to sell to your average joe.
b. Ok, we have enough to supply get rich with the IA scams AND selling your average joe... but if we say we don't we can charge more to the IA scams, pricing out the average joe doesn't matter to us because we are selling at a big ass markup anyway.

> is market capitalism a scam?
Always has.

I had a female friend who would help me with relationship stuff because I'm a fucking retard. Never thought much of her romantically because she had a boyfriend but in hindsight, her constantly cuddling up to me whenever possible was a bit weird. Not sure why she thought that I would make a move on her when I'm too retarded to deal with women on my own.
