Do games fall into obscurity solely because they aren't good?
>>729365670I finally played it this year and it fucking suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked
>>729365670These games were aggressively medicore even if the art style/setting was very nice. I'm sorry, but 'muh waifu' doesn't change that.
>>729365670>another thread full of shitters posting hot takes about games they didn't even playit's all so tiresome
>>729366071Quality reply sir
>>729365670Yep
it's not a bad game.but, it is a worse game than the first.
Gravity Rush got given so many chances. It was a flagship title for the Vita, then it got remastered, then it got a sequel. They all flopped. It failed because there simply isn't an audience for it, and that's because it's mediocre and gimmicky. Waifufagging will not change this.
>>729369634>flagship title for a dead-on-arrival console>remaster that was intentionally sabotaged by SCEA giving it a low print run exclusive to Amazon and only reprinting it under the table for GameStop to scalp as fake secondhand copies>no marketing in the west because it was a niche Japanese game when Sony was targeting dudebros"so many chances" (three chances, two of them intentionally set up for failure)
>>729370464>zoomer mythmakingVita was absolutely not dead on arrival, it had more early traction than the 3DS. Vita flopped because games like Gravity Rush sucked.
>shadPS4 13.0 releases>menus still glitcheds-surely they'll remember kat's game when 14.0 comes around r-right?
Bump for serious discussion
>>729371990Here's the only review that matters: it's a gimmick game that never ever went past said gimmick. Flying around is cool and satisfying, that's it.The open world is so hollow you got gems scattered all around to collect to justify the exploration.Combats are pointing at a red orb to kick it.I don't remember the story so it must've been shit. Really outside of kat living in a sewer I don't remember SHIT. Didn't play 2, I'm speaking for gravity rush 1.
>>729372246and for anyone who's needing a point of reference, did you play Control? Remember how having telekinetic powers turned to be mostly a gimmick, if cool looking and sounding, and at the end of the day you're playing a generic third person shooter murdering a trillion soldiers? If Control is a 5/10 in term of gameplay, repetition and risks taking Gravity Rush is a fat 2/10. It was unbelievably mind numbing. It successfully gave players a good rush on vita when played on a portable format, or that's what I felt, but nothing else.
objectively an improvement over GR1
i wish i could see kat's butthole
>>729370570The vita was absolutely dead on arrival. It had basically zero traction even with the 3ds fuckups
>>729370570the Vita was aborted during the third trimester when Monster Hunter 4 was confirmed 3DS exclusive
>>729365670It fell into obscurity because snoy wanted it to.
>>729372805the 3ds fuck ups were met with compromises to make it more appealingthe vita fuck ups were ignored and insisted uponi hate sony so fucking much
>>729372467Please, GR fucking mogs Control, the only good stuff in Control was stolen from GR.
>>729365670Sex with Raven the tummyslut
>>729365670Yes.
As a former Sony fanboy it was mindblowing watching Sony actively sabotage the release of what would end up being the last Sony game I would ever buy
Its good, but not good enough to be honest. The series need more polish
I hope Bamco ports them like they did with Patapon and that golf game
I get why a lot of people don't like these games but IMO the traversal is really fun
>>729381209...for about five minutes
Game was jank as fuck. But the art, ost, and characters kept me going to the end.
GR is the kind of series that was destined for cult appeal. Nothing about its aesthetic or gameplay has mainstream appeal and that's fine.
>>729365670>Fall in to obscuritySony killed JapanSTUDIO
>>729383323not making any good games for about 10 years did that
>>729383604Is this was people do? Go on the internet and tell lies?
>>729383321But even a lot of anons ITT are shitting on it and /v/ is as snobby as it gets
>>729383727>knack>gravity rush>everybodys golfno wonder the studio got pwned
>>729384913>Cherry pickingFeels like I'm back in 2010 era /v/
>>729365670No. Hundreds of amazing games fall into obscurity for many different reasons. Gravity Rush is great but it became niche because of a lack of advertisement, and because of it originality being a Vita exclusive
>>729387609>lack of advertisementanti japanese racism*
Games have to be promoted constantly for people to continue to care. Most are quick to move on. Hell, most people don't even replay games or even finish them.
Gravity Rush is just a 6/10 game. The combat is basic, the story is all over the place, and the central gimmick of being able to shift gravity essentially boils down to 'you can fly.' there's rarely a reason to use it to stand/traverse on walls and ceilings, because you can just fly. That being said the dreamlike oddball tone of the world is unique and the characters are very charming
