Frontiers can't be called high quality. Its fun, but everything fun about it is an accident. Everything intended about it sucks ass.No one who plays Frontiers plays it as intended, you do physics exploits and glitches to make the game more enjoyable. I'm not even against this myself, I enjoy it for those reasons too, but its universally agreed upon that the 3rd Island sucks ass because the zone kidnaps the player into highly automated 2D Sections where you cannot perform those glitches.The game itself at launch was horrible, ridiculous air friction forcing the player to basically run on rails. The game itself was honestly SAVED by the rail launch and Magnet dash opening up people's eyes to how much fun frontiers can be. SEGA miraculously leaned into this direction rather than away from it, they even made a youtube video that covered how to perform those techniques. Later DLC removed the Air Friction, added the spindash which allowed for insane jumps, and made the game all the better for it.But fact of the matter is, the launch game isn't even designed for those tools in mind. Meaning an overwhelming majority of the game is just an on rails automated mess or "do a jump here to skip the entire thing". Or Worse, those god awful Cyberspace levels that all have layouts made for different control schemes in mind, the fucking DRIFTING one really highlights how bad the controls for Frontiers really can be. ONLY the final DLC even feels like they began to experimenting with the tools that made Frontiers Fun.Frontiers is an accident, its not a high quality game. We're just lucky SEGA pulled their heads out of their asses and realized what people wanted from 3D sonic towards the end.
