The series left behind actual racing fans after 4. Like almost 15 years ago

I'll stick with whatever Genki makes and emulate gt2-4 for eternity.

I have the game, it sucks. The menu books are shit progression, the AI is the dumbest it's ever been, you have to drive like a god just to catch up to 1st place because the rolling start puts 1st a whole lap ahead of you, the in game economy feels like a sick joke with 300 million dollar cars you'll never afford unless you quit your job and stop talking to family and friends and only play the game for the next 12 months. They still haven't brought back Special Stage Route 5, the race categories suck, online quick play sucks due to fuel consumption and you can't use anything other than GT4 and GT3 cars. It's a simcade so playing on wheel sucks. I want to sell my PS5 and buy a Switch 2, at least they have Kirby Air Riders.
>>
I just play when im tired and nothing is on TV.
>>
>>729394475
And I forgot, custom races were deliberately nerfed to prevent easy races that gave you big payouts, i.e. oval endurances, so selecting a custom race is completely pointless, and you can't pick what kind of cars you go up against unless you own every car on the grid (good luck getting the credits with how tedious the game is).
The game was made to artificially pad out play time, not to be fun. Fuck GT, literally just play FH5.

You try to learn to drive faster.

If you're playing on DualSense instead of a wheel it's easier than it should be. But the adaptive triggers and haptics are nice for teaching you when you're spinning your tires by overusing the throttle at the wrong time or activating the ABS systems when you don't want to be. It just doesn't tell you when the wrong time to use the throttle is, or why/how you lose speed relying on ABS during turns.

If you get a wheel, don't pay over $200 for a G29 because it's not worth it. The MSRP was $350 IIRC and it may have gone up to $400 because of the tariffs, but even at $200 you're better off saving for something better (like the RS50) unless you play 100% casually and just want a wheel. For some people $200 is that sweet spot of "investing" in something you don't know if you'll like. Like buying a stick to play SF6.
As far as the G29, the gear driven wheel system is a bit under powered and is too unresponsive to use basic techniques like passive counter-steer. Also the brake pedal is dogshit. It has that nice stiffness to mimic a real brake pedal, but the resistance starts *after* the maximum travel that can be detected by the hall effect sensor in the pedal, even if you calibrate it. It also has a lot of play / dead-zone in the initial press. So your first 5% of travel does nothing, which fucks with you when you want to do minor 2% weight shift braking. And then you can't even use the resistance of the pedal to learn how to brake to exactly X% every time because the pedal can't detect anything after you start feeling resistance.

If having to brake to exactly X% on every turn every lap sounds annoying, it might not be for you. You could try a rally sim instead because the emphasis is on other skills, or go with F-Zero GX or Sonic CrossWorlds or something more stylized and arcadey.

You race/do challenges and licenses, you earn money, and you collect cars.
Cars are actually fun to drive and each car handles very different so just driving the cars around is really fun especially in online free roam lobbies. Also, one of the very few driving games that play very good on BOTH a wheel and a controller.

You can't use any of them in the daily races, the cars are too slow, it's just a pointless update. Meanwhile Lamborghini came out with all new models and none of them are in this game, no Lotus at all, might as well call it Gran Torino with the amount of useless shitboxes.
>>
GT7 is one of the worst in the series. No wonder normies like it.
>>
>>729397314
>Lamborghini
only zoomers care about that shit

>Lotus
They decided to ask for more money for licensing to PD so Kaz said fuck you and removed their cars.
>>
The game has absolutely ridiculous and permanent overexposure sunrise and sunset effects and the only thing you can do is tone down the overall brightness. Even with the money-making circuits the game is a straight down-grade from GT Sport.

I have posted this several times over the years but since nobody on /v/ has a PS5 or enjoys racing games i have never gotten a (You). This game sucks.

I will reply to you and say that you're completely retarded if you think Sport is in any way comparable to 7 which is a straight up upgrade. No clue what you mean by ridiculous sun effects. GT7 in VR is the only reason to own a PS5.

This. Got it along with a TM 300 GT on my bday. Progressed half the storybooks but then returned the wheel 59 days later (evropaan buyers protekk) and never picked up GT7 again.

It was so fucking boring idk what to say man. Perhaps simracing just wasn't for me. The music was great tho, but the books fucking sucked. Not sure how to better describe it, but they were literally made for boomers who sip coffee all day and just kick back. They had some intetesting events/races and contained cool trivia, but fuck man the presentation was just a snooze fest every time, with elevator music...
>>
>>729399271
Have or have you not played it on a 4k tv? I mean you're talking about VR, I dont care about that, I will never play VR. Here is a minor example of the extreme sunflare effects, and this is just off of a car window, during sunrise and sunset (which is every other lap) and during headlights effects at night, the bright overexposure effects are completely extreme.

Gran Turismo 7 is the Star Trek Picard of gaming. 100% of the time there is ALWAYS a light shining in your fucking face.
>>
>>729398783
I haven't played that one, but a friend is into it and seems to like it a lot.

Honestly, GT7 is fine.
I probably wouldn't have bothered to try it if I didn't know what they did with the Dual Sense controller. That experience was pleasant enough to buy a wheel to try that out. If you don't have a wheel and don't intend to buy one, but want to try a sim racer, it's a fine choice. If you find you like it enough to buy additional hardware GT7 supports wheels and PSVR2.
Though PC seems to be where most of the sim racing enthusiasts are. You can get Assetto Corsa for cheap and install free mods. Also there are a lot more wheel manufacturers who are PC-only, so the price for mid-range gear is competitive.

But to speak to what others are saying, I have a little over 100 hours in GT7 game, and despite spending most of it early on just trying to complete the cafe books and unlock/progress through everything, I still don't have all the tracks unlocked. I don't really care about unlocking all the cars when there are hundreds and there's maybe a dozen I actually like, but I'd like to be able to drive on the dirt and snow tracks without a progression wall in the way.
Other games are a bit better about having a "sandbox mode" where you can just pick any car and any track and have fun.

>Have or have you not played it on a 4k tv?
Yes, at a friend's. I don't really see what you mean. It's sun glare. They're shiny cars. If it's so extreme for you, either get your eyes checked or you're too close to the TV, maybe.

>I will never play VR
Your loss. Try it if you have the chance.

>>
>>729398783
Forza Horizon is way too arcadey in comparison.
Forza focus more on the colorful open world and the spectacle and its main audience is zoomers.
GT7 focus more on driving, car models and realistic aesthetics, and its made by a jap boomer who's obsessed with Skylines and econoboxes. It has mature tone. The whole presentation and music and the way the game is presented is very classy and mature.
